Rekindling the forge

The forge of Mt Pizol had been abandoned after a recent explosion. A dwarf named Snori was investigating the forge but had not yet returned. Guild agents were called on to investigate, but they arrived just it time to feel the next set of tremors from the volcano and see the local townsfolk evacuating.

According to legend, the forge was able to produce magical items of high quality because of a magical creature trapped in the forge. The adventurers fought rust monsters, fire newts and wererats on the way to the forge. They found crews of undead miners and ratmen who had pierced an anvil, freeing whatever creature had been trapped inside it and causing the recent explosion. After the ratmen fled, a salamander emerged from the forge - the source of the forge's ancient power.

A second salamander emerged and killed Snori. The guild agents defeated the salamanders and found a scroll with a ritual of binding on Snori's body. They refused to use the scroll to rebind the salamanders beyond death back into the forge, and thus the forge remains dormant in the depths of Mt Pizol.
