Rin's Guild report - 0.2.2
An Island Life
Stories have been filtering in across the deserts of the east from the town of Glendale. Normally there is little love lost between these settlements in the East and the guild and the more established West, so the fact that traders are sharing these stories at all speaks to the impressive nature of the stories themselves.
It seems that there is an island that moves in the Sunguard Bay of the east, that has recently moved into the area. Some stories even tell that this island is on the back of a gigantic creature!
Either way, it is unclear what reason this creature has appeared, or why this island has suddenly appeared in the waters here.
After several of these stories had been reported, a large poster was seen plastered across the guild noticeboard! The poster is written in a hasty script, and seems to be constantly wet and dripping with seawater. It is pinned to the board with an intricate spiky seashell.
Its your captain Rin here (and Guppy, and Jaws of course)
We need to set sail right away! There is a slim Ray of hope that this Ich-theology of stories is true, and there is a Fintastic giant Island swimming in the waters out there in Sunguard Bay!
With the wind at our back, the sun on our faces and an open sea full of fishy friends, how could you not want to head into this adventure with Heart and Sole?
It is obviously De-Bait-able that the stories are true, but an adventure where any-Fin is possible is reward in itself. So don't Trout yourself! and stop being so Koi about it! you know you want to be a part of this Fish-ssionLove & Fishes,
Rin (and Guppy and Jaws)
Rising to the challenges ahead, a group of amazing adventurers rode in a caravan across the deserts and desolating lands of the central east until they finally arrived on the shores of Sunguard Bay.
Stepping immediately out from the cart was of course Rin, the Fish Sorceress, followed by....
- The thoughtful grave cleric aasimar "Te"
- A bold and haughty high elf ranger "Kay-Bella"
- The strong mountain dwarf paladin "Tung"
- Elderly grandmother human barbarian "Mabel"
- The self conscious farmer and ranger "Farmer Amen"
- A bold and fearless barbarian high elf "Bron"
- Quick thinking and clever tiefling wizard "Geld"
- and the charismatic yet dangerous life cleric human "Horace"
Standing on the shore and breathing in the clear winds and sands and seas of the far south east, they felt at peace, especially after the grinding dirty waters of the silt rivers they had crossed on the journey.
Rin called forth the great creature "Guppy" from the deeps, and the koi colored whale fish allowed all the adventurers to board its back and ride out into the clear waters of the Sunguard Bay, in search of this mysterious island.
It was not long searching, that they came across this island, rising from the depths before them, on the back of a gigantic whale like beast.
But as they tried to convince the creature they meant it no harm, it dove away and disappeared again, and just behind, chasing the beast, was a ship of easterlings whalers and pirates, chasing the magical island for its flesh, treasures and glory.
The crew of Guppy confronted the whalers and after the captain threatened violence against them if they did not leave the waters and relinquish any claim to the beast, the party decided idle threats were not enough to dissuade them and launched an attack against the pirates.
The Barbarian Bron leaping aboard and taking two harpoon wounds, he was still too strong for the seafolk to control. Horace, Mabel, Tung and Rin soon jumped aboard to help, while Amen Kae-Bella Geld and Te rained spells and arrows upon the vessel.
After a short battle, they realized all their foes lay dead or escaped to the waters, and that the ship was now theirs to command!
Mabel dubbed it "Periwinkle the 6th" and none could argue against her maternal aura, and the name stuck.
Finding a map of the areas in the decks below, on top of some weaponry and gear they looted, the ship Periwinkle the 6th made its way with the new crew towards the base camp of these sea farers and soon came upon a small island fort and dock. steering the boat nearby, they surprised the inhabitants and launched a great assault, crushing the hastily build fort with ballista fire and carefully laid spells, while Mabel jumped (Somehow) swinging from ropes "accidentally" to land upon the battlements with geld the wizard to fight those running to the fort's aid.
Te grew majestic wings, and flew across to engage the pirates and disable their cannons, and Farmer Amen hastily put on his winged boots to do the same, raining down arrows from above!
One of the cannons, reloaded hastily, exploded, collapsing a huge part of the fort, and the battle was soon won, as the Periwinkle the 6th docked at the side and the group explored the island and fort for any goods they could carry.
Once they left the now ruined fort, the crew made their way over to the island marked on the map as the suspected lair of the living island, and there they found the creature awaiting them.
The large beast quickly took a liking to the large fish-whale guppy, and the two nuzzled each other playfully, allowing the heroes to walk atop the living island.
Filled with a sense of peace, this ancient ecosystem was like nothing they had ever seen before, and small magical fish swam through the air around the trees, almost exactly like the ones Rin gifts to those heroes who help on her quests.
The players found ancient structures built atop the island to help the creature below breath and survive, but the origin of this was unknown.
As they sailed the boat home, the large creature which Mabel named "Petunia" seemed to calm the seas of the Black Shoals as they went, allowing the Periwinkle the 6th safe passage back to the guild docks.
There is something strange happening in the seas of the south east.
Something Ancient is stirring again.
