Rin's Guild report - error, this time does not exist

Beware, oh Crit-mas Tree

However, recently a strange storm blew across the entire lands of Elanora, possibly the whole World itself, in pure white snow and glistening ice. The populations felt the magic in the air, celebrating around Elanora as though a great feast was upon all the lands. But far south east from the LWS Guild, a huge vortex swirled above the Forested Isles, shrouding them completely! The Guild had to act, so they sent seven brave champions to find the cause!

  • Rin, the Fish Sorceress (The only one able to traverse the Black Shoals on her giant fish Guppy) [Definitely, Legally not a vehicle]
  • Tung, the brave dwarvish paladin (Proudly putting them self in the greatest danger to protect the guild and his friends)
  • Rose' the Elven Figher (Strong with a bow and with an unrivaled sense of the woods)
  • Herbert, the Dragonborn Eldrich Knight (Happy to travel to where the best chance of carnage might be)
  • Farmer Amen Sideways (As always, a trusty friend and proven capable in battle many times)
  • Mabel, the Elderly Human Barbarian (With their Strong Axe, but more importantly plenty of freshly knitted warm scarves)
  • Ebeth, the Elderly Human Bard (Again chosen for their inspiring knitted scarves to keep the party warm)

Having sailed on Guppy deep into the cold stormy seas of the season, they soon landed on an ice Shelf around the mysterious islands where Guppy could go no further!

The whole party bid farewell to their fishy friend as they forged further inland, soon finding themselves on the rough shores looking at the looming trees and thick woods ahead of them. It was up to Tung and Rose' to find the way, staring into the deep woods they saw ahead of them lights glistening between the trees undeniably signs of civilization!

Moving through the woods they soon found themselves in a small but beautiful village, decorated with beautiful candles, coloured string and icicles glistening. But all was not right in the village, houses had been smashed open, and there were large drag marks in the snowy streets leading out of town into the woods. It seems that every house that had brought a tree inside to decorate for the holiday, had been targeted!

The guild's heroes swore to find who had caused the damage and threat against this peaceful settlement!

Setting out into the trees with Farmer Amen leading the way and following the tracks deep into the trees. The Party soon came upon one of the trees! It had been set in the middle of a clearing, decorations still on its boughs glowing golden in the wintery night.

As they approached, strange deer-like beasts appeared and circled to protect the tree. the heroes considered their options, it seems that the beasts were intelligent, but couldn't seem to talk! after somehow convincing the herd they were not an immediate threat, and establishing a system of blinks for yes/no answers, they realized that these creatures were protecting the tree, and the real threat was up ahead somewhere deeper into the islands forests.

As they left the deer, they found a candy cane sword, and a discarded deer antler that filled them with the Crit-mas spirit allowing them to wield these strange new weapons!

The party moved forward through the woods more carefully now, setting Tung and Rose' at the front, they arrived in another clearing, that some time ago, a large tree had been felled by the village. something had scattered a decorated cart, and gifts around the base, stolen from the village, as some kind of unusual offering to this huge fallen trunk.

As they inspected the tree, they were suddenly assaulted by many tiny invisible creatures! Tung the Paladin was knocked down, as bloody blades stabbed into his chest! and Ebeth felt the wind of a creature as it slashed nearby!

Mabel swung her beautifully knitted scarf around, and managed to ensnare something!

All across the clearing, strange little rocky goblin like Crit-mas goblins appeared, striking out at the party! Mabel immediately started to knit her captured goblin into a sweater at the end of the scarf, Herbert slashing out killing Goblins left and right, Farmer Amen flying above the battle with their winged boots and raining arrows down from above, Ebeth throwing snow around wildly, sent a spray of colour out, blinding three immediately and they scampered off into the forest. Tung was locked in battle with several of the creatures and Rose' fired pin point precise arrows at many of the beasts.

The battle raged, but once Mabel rolled a snowball and challenged the Goblins to a snowball fight, they all converged on her, throwing icy snowballs with glee! The battle was soon won, and the goblins all turned back to stone! Mabel found the one she had knitted was now a perfect weapon! a "Crit-mas-rock-goblin-sweater-scarf-flail"

Ebeth cast Speak to Dead, and raised the body of one of the creatures, and its answers sent them deeper into the forest ahead.

As they were leaving, Tung recovered a magical Sleighbell, and Herbert found one of the Goblins red Crit-mas hats!

They arrived finally into a clearing in the middle of the island and in the eye of the snowstorm, seeing a large decorated tree, Ebeth stepped forward to look at it closer.

The rest of the party watched as all the trees began to move and it turns out that the trees that were brought inside the houses were filled with the Crit-mas spirit and had become Tinsel Tree Ents!

After proving they were friends, the Heroes walked the trees back to the village triumphant and forged a collaboration between the people and the trees, the trees now making "SungWood" and agreeing to provide not just for the people, but also to the guild in limited supply!
