Starport Guild report - 0.1.11

Fargothia's Belt

The Guild was contracted by a Guildmaster of the Dwarven Clan Fargothia, Wellesley Fargothia, of Starport to recover a Belt of Dwarvenkind that was stolen from him during a Royal Ball. Whilst he accused rival Clan Shimmerbeard's Patriarch of the theft, it quickly became apparent that he was simply assuming the worst out of his enemy as part of an ongoing feud between the two clans in the city. After speaking to Thefrack Shimmerbeard, the Heir of Clan Shimmerbeard, the party believed they had found a possible lead on a third party that was intentionally stoking the fires between the two Clans, trying to start a blood feud between them and continued investigating a local magic items merchant by the name of, 'Conglo Merates.'

The party discovered a local bakery was actually a racket being used by Conglo Merates and their associates and raided the property, discovering an illegal gambling ring in the basement. After quickly subjugating the gang members below, arresting them and handing them over to the King's Guard, the party found a mirror in the basement was actually a portal and entered it, pursuing Conglo Merates into a Demiplane. From there, they had a showdown with this individual only to realise they were in fact Modlolx, a Beholder disguising themselves with illusions. Modlolx had been seeking to start a blood feud between the two Dwarven clans on the streets of Starport, poised to profit from selling weapons to both sides, and revealed their plan to the party before declaring that they now knew too much. With good wit, taking advantage of Modlolx's hubris and sheer desperation to survive, they managed to kill Modlolx and escape his demiplane, having recovered Fargothia's belt and a tonne of stolen or otherwise illegally acquired merchandise, returning them to their owners and profiteering for the Guild with the remainder, preventing a gang war from breaking out.

With the Guild's success in recovering Fargothia's stolen belt and exposing this criminal conspiracy, Clan Fargothia has promised to have future work for the Guild, and his clan's skilled Masons are willing to help fund the construction of a new Guild Hall and base of operations for the Guild within Starport. With so much crime and corruption within the city, having a permanent base of operations in Starport will surely be valuable for the Guild to be able to have any prospect of longevity there among the chaos.
