The Jence Wall

The Great Jence Wall is the largest defensive construction in the world, dwarfing even most of Eal's buildings. It stands ninety feet high at its lowest point, is over a hundred and twenty feet thick at the north tower and south gates, and is constructed of hardened black granite over tamped earth. It descends hundreds of feet below into foundations deep beneath the earth, protecting the Underfarm and underground levels of the city from tunnelling attacks, and hungry purple worms have been observed disengaging and retreating in futility after attempting to raid the city.

The wall is five-sided, with a wide southern edge, and its northern edges forming a point at which its defences are concentrated. At its northern epicentre is The Tower of Reason. This tower has further strengthened the wall with arcane energies for the past 200 years. There are only two gates - the main gates on the southern walls, and a much smaller gate leading into the bowles of the Tower of Reason.
