Malix's Malice

Athel of the Verdant Light requested help from the guild to deal with the presence of the Rotwood Conclave in Tempus Fugit. Six adventurers from the guild stepped up to help; Herb Slate, Atholis, Daoist, Bjort, Belkian and Fillias Figorous Fizleboom. The group immediately set out towards Tempus Fugit but roughly 30min out a large explosion hit the city and the adventurers could see a lot of smoke billowing into the sky. They swiftly moved closer to the city and when they arrived, they were met with devastation and destruction as the Rotwood Conclave attacked and every building was alight.

As people screamed and fled out the city gates the adventurers saw a rogue of the Verdant Light being attacked by a blighted paladin, and two blighted wolves. They stepped in to help her and in doing so caught the attention of a Gorgon. They managed to defeat their adversaries and Atholis and Fillias tried to loot the Gorgon.

The rogue, who had been sent to wait for them, took them to the Verdant Light base of operations. People were running around in organised chaos directed by a tall, red tiefling with curved horns. Athel welcomed them and explained the situation – things had gotten a lot worse since he’d requested their aid. The Rotwood Conclave attacked the city mere moments ago with two main groups of Blighted creatures and humanoids attacking. However, one of the Verdant Light agents also discovered a group of Rotwood Conclave members doing something under the city that gave off an odd magical signature. Athel said that the Verdant Light could try dealing with two of the issues but didn’t have enough people to be at all three locations. The adventurers from the guild were conflicted about whether they should investigate the actions of the Rotwood Conclave under the city or fight their forces on the city surface. As they were discussing the issue two loud roars echoed around the city. Herb Slate and Fillias Figorous Fizleboom went outside and saw two large grey dragons flying above the city, when they informed the rest of the party it was decided that the dragons were too much of a pressing issue.

Athel led the Verdant Light to the South-East side of the city to deal with the Rotwood Conclave over there, and one of the dragons, while the six guild members went to the city centre. They fought two wizards, one monk, a Blighted Bullete and a blighted Chimera. Oddly, during the fight the earth beneath them shook, the cobblestone street began to crack and break open revealing random 5ft holes in the earth that emitted strange green and purple light. After the group defeated half their enemies the earth shook again, and a wave of purple energy was blasted from under the city and gave Blight to some of the adventurers.

Shortly afterwards Malix Silvershade appeared above the group flying on the back of some kind of Blighted dragon. He taunted the group and they started to fight him. They’d only just started when the earth shook one final time causing large sections of the ground around the city to collapse which not only destroyed the streets, but many buildings fell. Malix laughed and fled thanking the adventurers for being so foolish to fall into his trap.

The adventurers learnt that the attack was a diversion. As the Rotwood Conclave’s forces attacked the city, others were planting a Blighted acorn under the city. With large sections of the city’s ground having crumbled away from the power of the Blighted acorn, the acorn is left uncovered and able to grow without limitations.

Many people were saved as the guild and Verdant Light defeated the Rotwood Conclave members on the surface and allowed them to escape. But the city has been lost.
