Elixir of False Hope
Aramil Silverfrond Morvull Kimbatuul Molly - Nyra Nightflame @Aeolus Björt Eldur @Lilly -Teegath Angelus @Lachie @Reagan - Azrael answered a plea for help from Athel of the Verdant Light. The Verdant Light base in Eal had been attacked last night by a group of assassins eager to get their hands on the elixir.   (The elixir was originally bought by @Isaac-Fillias Figorous Fizleboom from a travelling merchant calling it a cure for the Blight. Fillias confirmed the merchants’ words & gave the elixir to the Verdant Light in the hope they'd be able to get the elixir into cities to defeat the Blight. They sent the elixir to Orrocos and Tokmor, where after the seventh day the Blight returned with a vengeance destroying everything as large, corrupt, spiky vines covered the land & choked the remaining life & hope from the area & people.)   As the elixir had been proven to make the Blight even worse (as seen by the destruction of Orrocos and Tokmor), the likely culprits were the Rotwood Conclave but the only two captured assailants hadn’t spoken a word. Knowing it would only be a matter of time before they were attacked again, Athel was desperate to get the elixir out of Eal and somewhere completely safe. It was why he reached out to the guild, and why he borrowed ‘The Walker’ from Fillias as he wanted the extra firepower; the Walker is a powerful invention that had shown last week that it had formidable offensive capabilities, could shield allies and even heal others. Varian helped teleport the group to Eal and when they arrived at the base Athel went over his plan. He needed to get the case with the elixir in it to his contact in Law-Down who he was confident would be able to keep the elixir safe. To do this he suggested that they split up with one group carrying a case with the real elixir while the second group took a decoy. The heroes decided that they didn’t want to split up, so they opted to travel together leaving 4 members of the Verdant Light and ‘The Walker’ to become the other group. Bjort suggested that in case they were captured it would be better if nobody knew which was the real case and the rest agreed. Bjort grabbed a random case that fused with his hand the second he touched it and Athel grabbed the other. With that the groups both decided on a path and they left.   As they were leaving, trying to find a safe passage out of the city, King Trost's army arrived and started attacking the undead around the city drawing them towards the north. The heroes had heard that King Trost's army was about 300 strong but there was easily 3000 people in the army that were now decimating the undead. Using the attack as a distraction the heroes snuck out of the south side of the city and circled around the city before starting to head North. The heroes didn’t manage to get too far past the city before they were ambushed by four undead. An undead Ettin with large segments of missing flesh, two casters and a warrior. Teegath managed to get rid of the wizard with a fear based spell who just kept running away until its legs gave out, while the rest of the party took down the bard, ettin and paladin. They looted what they could from the undead and headed on. The group carried along the path towards Law-Down when the ground beneath them suddenly gave way. They fell about 35ft into what appeared to be a dimly lit ruin of some description. The floor was covered in bones, there were two piles of gold, a chest and horrific statues around the room depicted screaming or cowering in fear. As the heroes started moving about the room a Beholder appeared. The Beholder managed to paralyse Aramil and petrify Nyra. However, during the fight appendages sprung from the walls and trapped Aramil, and Daoist. They managed to defeat the creature. After they healed Nyra and Aramil took turns helping the group escape the Beholder’s lair using their Brooms of Flying. After dealing with the sudden appearance of a Beholder, the group carried on and nearly made it to Law-Down when they were attacked by Malix riding a black and grey dragon with a emerald ooze dripping from its open maw. Malix demanded the case and when told no he laughed and said it would be great to be rid of such constant pains. Malix clicked his fingers, summoning a large crystal warden and attacked. Some key moments; Aramil was able to trap the crystal warden in a mental cage for a while and helped Morvull destroy the crystal warden, Nyra set the warden and the dragon on fire with a fireball, Daoist and Azrael went after the dragon, and Price went after Malix while Teegath and Bjort healed the party after a devastating dragon’s fire breath. Worried about how long it was taking the group to reach Law-Down Varian creates a portal and appears in the middle of the fight. Seeing they were fighting Malix he started helping the heroes through the portal and escape the mad wizard.   However, Price refused to escape wanting to take down the dragon or at least grab some scales, so Teegath and Azrael stayed behind to help while the rest left. With a lot of luck Price managed to grab one scale from the dragon which then incinerated the group while Malix cast chain lightning - the damage from both attacks took all three out.   Watching the fight through Varian’s portal, Bjort dashed back through and used a mass healing spell to get them all up. After Price, Teegath and Azrael were back on their feet they fled through the portal leaving Malix and the dragon on the other side.   Once they all got to safety they managed to get the case to Athel’s contact and the elixir was put under heavy, highly secret lockdown.
