Elantris

Welcome to Elantris. Originally crafted by the Gods during The Founding thousands of years ago, before the Gods became divided and the first war between the Prime Deities and the Betrayer Gods occured. With the Prime Deities victorious, the Age of Arcanum followed. A time where mortals tested the limits of arcane power, challenged the gods who had created them, and eventually brought about the escape of the once-defeated Betrayer Gods. As the second great war against the Betrayer Gods broke out, an arcane arms race accompanied and the world of Elantris was changed forever. Over two-thirds of the population were wiped out before the Betrayer Gods were banished once more during the third age of Elantris, known as The Calamity. To ensure that the Betrayer Gods could never return the Prime Deities chose to seal themselves and the Betrayer Gods behind The Divine Gate, preventing them from physically interacting with the Material Plane again. This was known as The Divergence brining us to the fourth and current age, known as Post-Divergence or 'PD'.   Rebuilding from the cinder and ruins left after The Calamity, over 400 years have now past since the Gods left the material plane and the mortal world continues to move on. Split between two main continents and a variety of large and small islands the civilised continent of Avon to the east is made up of four dominant political groups, the Artarean Empire, the Mythanmar Dynasty, the Dhun Khaldur and the Relmaur Dominion. A relative, though often strained, peace exists between them after 400 years of various conflicts. To the west, sits the contient of Tel' Ar Nórë, only recently inhabited and barely known. With only small pockets of civilisation it is a continent of mostly untamed wilderness and mystery, stemming from the incredible toll The Calamity had on this area.   With stories of political intregue, guilds of magic, merchantry and exploration, seedy underbellies of thievery and murder along with opportunities for adventure, magic and mayhem, what stories will you create in the world of Elantris?
