The gnomes spread far and wide, and the latent magic that initially mutated them from dwarves has awoken, granting more powerful magic and allowing some of them innate magic abilities.

The gnomes spread out far and wide, intermingling with each other and with the fey natives. The dusk gnomes sought companionship with the fey far more than the deep or dawn gnomes, further enouraging their innate magic to grow through these relationships, and developing the ability to speak to some forms of animals. The deep gnomes primary learned illusion magic, keeping themselves safe from the dangers of the Feydark, such as the fomorians and similar vile threats. The dawn gnomes instead honed their physical skills primarily, learning the bow and hammer, learning far less magic than the other gnomish progenitor species and further augmenting their bodies, becoming adept at both swimming and stealth, hiding away further from the fey that surround them at every turn and falling deeper into seclusion.
