Changeling
Where many individuals would use magic or disguises to change their appearance a changeling achieves this by mere thought. They are a withdrawn race as their ability to change their features at will leads many to distrust them. Rather than fighting for recognition many changelings would simply adopt a persona and hide amongst those who would shun them.
Basic Information
Anatomy
In their natural forms changelings are between 5 and 6 feet tall, they have a soft grey skin and silver pupilless eyes. An almost completely featureless face with thin wisps of transparrent hair. Though they can appear like many humanoid species they can't rearange their basic arangement and as such will stay bipedal with two arms, nor can they vary their size to be other than medium.
Genetics and Reproduction
Any changeling is a hermaphrodite, aswell as with any other changeling they can reproduce with most humanoid species but this doesn't always pass on the ability to change.
Growth Rate & Stages
A changeling matures slightly faster than a human as they reach maturety around their 14th year. From their they age slightly slower than most humans, with the average changeling living to just under a centuary of age.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Their sensory abilities are identical to that of humans, with poor dark vision and unremarkable hearing. Due to their innate instinct to pay close attention to the behaviour and features of those around them they are often remarkble at both deception aswell as to gain insight in to others intentions.

Naming Traditions
Changelings usually adopt a different name for each different face, amongst one another they usually use short nouns as names that they choose for them selfs. Some examples might be: Bird, Rock, Water, Cliff, Change, Sun or even simply 'Name'. Any changeling that grows up alone amongst a community of single skins will usually adopt one of the names more common in that community
History
By the nature of the species, the origin of the changelings is an open debate among scholars. Of the many proposed origins, the following is the most widely accepted:
Finding their origin among the descendants of humanoids that bred with doppelgangers. Most of the earliest ancestors were incapable of full transformation only able to change minor things like their hair color or the shape of their nose, but through continued mixing with doppelganger lineages eventually, all changelings were able to fully transform as they can now. Their abilities sadly often lead them to be mistrusted by those incapable of such change. This, as well as the fact that many just wished for ordinary lives, led many groups changelings to hide amongst the species that can't change, the single skins as they call them. Often when a group was discovered they were often driven away from the community leading to them becoming more and more dispersed. Now no one knows where they are or how many there not even the changelings themself. It might be very possible that two would live next to one another without them being aware that the other is a changeling aswell.
