Idara

Idara is an Old God of motherhood, said to have been the mother of all members of the Tal'Idar.

Tenets of Faith

  1. Honor the Sacredness of Life: Followers are called to cherish and protect all life, viewing every being as part of Idara’s creation. Life is sacred, and preservation is a holy duty.
  2. Nurture and Support Others: The faithful must nurture growth and support their communities, especially those vulnerable or in need. Offering compassion and care is seen as emulating Idara’s own motherly essence.
  3. Stand Against Corruption: Followers are charged with opposing Gatara and all forces of corruption. Defending the innocent and purging evil from the land is a holy responsibility and an act of devotion.
  4. Uphold the Bonds of Family and Kinship: Family, whether by blood or chosen, is sacred. Followers must uphold bonds of love, loyalty, and protection, honoring these as gifts from Idara.
  5. Embrace Self-Sacrifice for the Greater Good: The faithful are encouraged to embrace sacrifice, both personal and communal, for the welfare of others and the sanctity of life, reflecting Idara’s nurturing spirit and commitment to all creation.

Holidays

Day of First Light

The Day of First Light is a sacred holiday dedicated to Idara, celebrated on the first day of spring when new life begins to emerge. This day is marked by joyous gatherings, offerings of food, and rituals of renewal and protection. People come together at dawn to watch the first rays of sunlight, symbolizing the life-giving warmth and protection of Idara. The Day of First Light is a celebration of renewal, growth, and community, symbolizing Idara’s nurturing spirit and her constant presence as the protector of all life.

Traditions and Rituals:

Blessing of Mothers and Children
In each village, the elders lead a blessing ceremony for mothers and their children, symbolizing Idara’s protection. Special amulets crafted by local artisans are given as tokens of strength, health, and good fortune.
Planting of Idara's Grove
Villagers plant trees, flowers, or herbs in a designated area called “Idara’s Grove” to honor her as the source of growth and life. It is believed that tending to this grove brings blessings of fertility, health, and abundant harvests.
Gift of Light Lanterns
People craft small lanterns or candles, which they release onto water at dusk, symbolizing the protective and guiding spirit of Idara. Each lantern represents a wish or prayer for a loved one’s wellbeing.
Feast of the First Harvest
In the evening, communities gather for a communal feast using early spring foods. Families offer a portion to Idara at village shrines, giving thanks for her blessings and the bounty to come.
Guardians’ Vigil
In honor of the Tal'Idar, warriors and protectors hold a midnight vigil, dedicating themselves to Idara’s ideals of guardianship and protection. They renew oaths to defend the innocent and preserve the sanctity of life.
