Kenku

If the Hawklords are seen to be the shining white knights of justice the Kenku are their less morally stringent brothers. The flightless Kenku by and large could be considered the more secretive and conniving which has guided them towards more cloak and dagger professions. Often Kenku fall into two categories, those in the employ of the Hawklords ,whom take on the tasks the regular force find immoral or distasteful, or independent Kenku that use their skills for more nefarious purpose. Adept in appraisal, mimicry and subterfuge these black feathered messengers are inevitably drawn to crime to punish or participate.

Civilization and Culture

History

Before their fall from grace, the kenku were an opposing organisation to the Hawklords wherein they served a master whose name has been lost to memory. They soared on wings he had given them, performing services silently in his name. However, they coveted his speech and stole the secret of language from his vaults, and took this newfound ability to beg and cajole for money. When their master found out they knew his wrath and he stripped them of their wings and cast them down so that they would forever beg in penance for their greed. The Hawklords took the less proud members in seeing some sort of comradeship in their fallen enemy and now over the ages they have integrated again into society but as a husk of their former glory but all that remember are content , safe in the knowledge that they may walk the streets at night with no fear of great sable wings whisking them into the moonlit sky.
