Ana, the mother of Runar, was shipwrecked by a storm produced from the arrival of a Genie from the elemental plane who saved her after taking pity on her and transported her to a nearby uninhabited island, where he asked for her to tell him stories of this plane in return for saving her. This led to them spending the night together where she woke up to him being gone. After a few weeks she was eventually found by Vikings who took her with them back to their homeland where she was taken in by the settlements boat builder, Gorm. As the weeks passed, she learnt she was pregnant and soon gave birth to Runar. Runar was raised as a son by the boat builder and as he grew, he learnt from his adopted father how to build and sail boats as well as how to properly worship the gods of this land. Eventually Runar’s skill as a sailor was seen by the settlement and he was allowed on raids and as such was granted combat training, which coupled with his devotion to the gods allowed him to channel their power.
