A king is appointed by being the next in line for the throne, typically the crown prince, the first born son or first surviving son of the reigning king. He is responsible for the distribution of justice and monitoring of the Lords of his realm.
Qualifications
Birth order and sex play the primary role in taking the throne. However, when there is more than one son, it is the reigning king or whomever is guardian in the event of the king's demise or disappearance, such as the Queen or a Regent, who has final say. A prince who lacks the aptitude may be passed up in favor of one more suited to the role.
Requirements
The crown prince must be at least twenty years of age to take the throne. The previous king must also be dead or step down.
Appointment
A king is raised through a coronation ceremony, conducted by the council.
Duties
The king's duties include foreign relations, presiding over festivals, acting as judge for high profile trials, leading the nation through conflict, managing the nobility, and so on.
