Quartz Battery

A faint echo of something distant, somewhere near and far. Quartz batteries are a device lost to time and space, waiting to be discovered once again in this reality.

Utility

Charged Quartz are used to send recorded messages and store energies. Large enough stones can hold entire wells of power and multiple elements. Energies trapped do not return properly to the flows of the world, causing damage to the flows when released in large quantities. Particularly of note is using an element that is not present, such as water in a desert, altering the balance of flows. Over trapping leads to drying or stagnation of flows.

Access & Availability

Access to these precious uncharged stones is widespread, but the research and techniques are held closely by the Twisted King and his mages. Charged stones were distributed to his mages when they were deployed. They are a closely guarded secret that the king will kill to keep.

The battery itself is simple enough to create, however, charging it requires specific steps and techniques.

Discovery

Quartz is an old mineral, the properties once thought to be known. Investigating 'haunted' ruins led to the discovery of the trapping properties of Quartz. A dark king in some twisted reality funded the investigation, which had it's first breakthrough when a large quartz stone was removed from the ruin. A few restless nights later and researchers pinpointed the source. Experimentation began, applying various energies to the quartz. Fire and air applied to the quartz created a ghostly projection, the sounds of the violent actions recorded to the quartz played out before them. After years of researching and experimenting, elemental energy was successfully stored within quartz, changing the tide of battles.
