Tian'Dai (Tea-an-Die)

A desert dwelling people descended from a cursed clan of humans, little remains to tell the species was ever human. Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Beautiful Tian'Dai are healthy Tian'Dai. Unmarred, well tended scales reflect their health best. While scars can mar the beauty, the scars gained in battle are boasted and worn with the same pride a human would their jewelry. Coloration also plays a part in the beauty ideals of the Tian'Dai. Rarer colors and patterns are sought after like diamonds among a sea of topaz. Some Tian'Dai will augment their own scales with paints and dyes to highlight their own beauty and compete with the rarer morphs.

Gender Ideals

The females among the Tian'Dai are the ruling class, being larger and more prone to magical abilities. They take the roles of chieftains, diplomats, traders, and the head of household. Males, being physically stronger, are the protectors and providers of the clan, tasked with the gathering and raising of food as well as defending their villages or invading others. Males are prohibited from learning to use their magic, if they possess that capability.

Courtship Ideals

The female Tian'Dai initiate courtship among their society. They will evaluate the males they wish to engage with closely, selecting the best suited for their own personal ideals. Some Tian'Dai females prefer beauty traits, others prefer traits that would give strong offspring, while mages will select mates with strong known magical bloodlines or present strong magical aptitude.

Relationship Ideals

Tian'Dai favor their familial ties, whether they be chosen or by blood. Bonds of friendship are considered the most precious among their society. They lack the semblance of romantic relationships, but it is not uncommon to have a favored friend or two with whom they are intimate for fun. Females of the village will raise their offspring together, giving the sires of their offspring little interaction with their young. It is not uncommon for a Tian'Dai to not know who their father is.
