Healer's Mint

The Healer's Mint (occupation eldonine: Tinnathve'l Metúth) is a fully domesticated hybrid of Phethyash and mint bred for its aroma, antiseptic properties, and flavour in salads and teas.
This cultivar is more hearty to heat compared to Phethyash, and was also bred in order for it to be easier to grow outside the bounds of Eldondi. This helped to keep the benefits of the Phethyash alive when it was nearly brought to the edge of extinction thanks to The Sorcerer Queen's sacking of the Eldondi capital, Fûhim, by having Healer's Mint growing in places where the Sorcerer Queen wasn't aware of.
The plant is called "Healer's Mint" because it is a main staple in the kit of any healer worth their salt.

Appearance

Healer's Mint resembles regular mint in almost every way. It has dark green leaves arranged in opposite pairs, oblong in shape with a slight fuzz and serrated along the edges.
It's flowers are produced in long bracts from leaf axils. They are a pastel light purple in colour and present in false whorls called 'verticillasters'. When the plant goes to seed, it makes a 'fruit' called a 'nutlet', containing one to four seeds.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Healer's Mint reproduces through seed and through suckers. This can lead to it being incredibly invasive if not planted in containers or garden beds that have been walled off underground.
