Bladrift

Of all the things found in the Glowing Pinnacle volcano, they say the scariest thing is the giant monster that controls the lava within. Baldriff is a large monster that is said to come from the other plane Udaka. That is from the plane that we know of being full of magma and fire. So, it makes sense had this monster can control the lava within our mighty volcano. Very few have ever claimed to have seen boulder if but of those claims they all say that he is a large creature covered in fur of red and black. Amongst the fur our skills that shine in the light so dastardly, they appear to be on fire. The creatures’ hands have long fingers and nails sharp like daggers. This creature seems to have full control of the lava within the mountain and of the mountain itself. As you can see this creature can move within the lava to go anywhere in the mountain they wish with a simple command.

Those that live on or near the mountain are quick to tell those who do not know a warning how to say safe in the mountains. For you see Baldrift protects his mountain and will send lava elementals for those that do things he does not approve of. So, if you disrupt the mountain, destroy too much of the mountain, or take too much from the mountain you will find the lava elementals are not nice and will destroy you. He also likes to protect the rarest of metals in his mountain and if you wish to get any of these rare metals you must s sneak passed him and all his guards. some compare this creature to that a dragon as he is very territorial and hoards what he finds as precious rare material, and other items found on this mountain.

You know there's even a rumor that lava elementals are on a job from him to collect material and bring it back to him. So be careful where you store your materials, and make sure you clean up after yourself as well, because your tools might end up destroyed or robbed if in view of the elementals.

Historical Basis

During one of the great civil wars amongst the dwarves, Boubthul Orgorth, the leader of a great clan was losing a battle. His dwarf incline decided to retreat farther into the mountain why they gathered the last troops they had to make a last stand. During the last stand Boubthul Orgorth lost his footing on the edge of the chasm where the only thing below him was the flowing magma over the Volcano. The clan thought he was lost but whenever he was seen again, he was not the dwarf they knew. He wore a crown of fire and his beard had an eternal flame. they say that when he fell he met Baldrift face to face. When Baldrift saw the potential and the fire in the eyes of Boubthul Orgorth, they struck a bargain. For you to see Baldrift wanted to venture from his mountain and he saw this as an opportunity for him to possess the dwarf and rain death on the clans and enemies.

After he came back Boubthul Orgorth, he came back with a vengeance controlling the power of magma. before this event, he was known to be a welder of fire now his power had grown. When the other clans saw the power they surrendered and offered their allegiance to the family of Orgorth.

Boubthul Orgorth Is the ancestor of the current king of Thum Dural, and it is believed that the monster still possesses the kings of the city. There is no proof one way or the other but it makes sense why they are so powerful.
