Personal history
My life has been full of challenges and high expectations. It is all because I was born the two things I was given at birth. The first was that I was born to the Yuki family. This family is one of the great noble families in my kingdom. My family has 3 ancestors that were well-renowned rulers over the kingdom. The last one was 4 cycles ago. She was blessed by the goddess Mizu before becoming the ruler of the kingdom. It was said that when she came back from a great battle her hair was turned Teal and her eyes became a deep blue. She was set on the path to making sure that we survived the oncoming storm. Which was a great war that raged between the people of the snow. She guided us to a new future where we were able to save most of the people and cease the bloodshed.
That brings me to my second problem, I was born with the same deep blue eyes and teal as my grandmother 4 cycles past. Due to this my family expected and wanted the best of me and from me. So, I was trained and guided in the ways of leadership and was expected to become the head of the house even though I was still so young. Despite my young age, my family insisted that I be given this position even though this is very uncommon among the dwarven houses on my Mountain.
I gained a little freedom when I participated in the Gresteel ceremony and was able to choose my primary Fighting Style and my first weapon. The exhilaration I felt when I was able to think for myself and choose what weapon I would master. I chose the fighting style, Absolute Zero, a berserk fighting style, and the Great sword. Unlike the other berserk styles, this style specializes in containing your rage inward and teaching you how to release that pent-up anger in sharp and precise movements. I was a natural at containing my anger and wielding it. When I activated my rage, I was told by others that the air between us became colder.
After your first year of training, every combat style puts you through a trial to see if you are worthy to keep going. For my trial, I was given only a few things, the clothes on my back, a week’s worth of rations, my great sword, and a crudely drawn map of the area. I was taken to a place I had never been and I was to get back to camp. We were told that after 7 days they would be living back in town and if don’t make it to camp before they leave, we will fail the trial. The vast land covered in snow made it difficult to find the landmarks on the map. I was making headway toward the camp, or so I believed when I hit a slippery path of ice and fell down a small hill. I landed in some a bush and was grateful until I heard the sounds of large creatures running toward me. A small wolf was being chased by two large bears and they were coming right for me.
The bears looked hungry and as they saw me, they thought of me as the main entrée for their dinner for two. The excitement for some action after my lackluster day filled my desire to show those bears who were actually on the menu. I stepped purposely from the bush and pointed my sword at the bears as they stopped and watched my movements. Before the bears could fully analyze their new prey, I Walk up to them and slash at them with my sword. The sword bits into the bear's shoulder and I use my strength to drive the sword through the bone in doing so, I cut off the arm of the attacking bear. The battle becomes a grueling battle between the Bears and myself. The wolf cub did not hesitate and joins the battle only moments after my first blow on the larger bear. Both the wolf cub and I were very rather bloody after the battle with the bears but bear meat was delicious for our dinner.
The rest of the trial was far simpler after this transpired. I cooked most of the bear meat that night and feed it to the wolf cub that never left my side. I made it to camp with a few days to spare. My instructor was delighted to hear about my skirmish with the bears. Many others would not have had such a win, especially since I received no deep wounds that would give me scars. I brought the bear skins to my instructor as proof of my success. When we got back to town, I bestowed the skins to my instructor for the training he gave me that allowed me to be formidable enough to kill the bears.
The Wolf pup, Verato, became my companion and for the next few years, we trained to become a force to be reckoned with. Now as of late my family and others want me to ascend to the head of the house and later take over the seat of the kingdom. I have been pressured by people inside and outside my family. I think they all only see my hair and eyes and I am not sure if they see me as anything other than my great-great-great-grandmothers grandchild. I have decided that I must find out if I am worthy to become head of the house let alone run the kingdom.
