Personal Journal of Arwenwel Lorial
21 Winter's Edge 59 PEC
Dearest daughter,
I start this journal as we leave the vales in hopes that someday I may return and present this to you in order to explain. It all begins with the day you were born. At the beginning of the Edge you breathed life into this cruel world for the first time. I say cruel because even though the Great Lord and Lady blessed us with you it also ends in tragedy. Hours after you came screaming into our lives, Aldan our home, was attacked by Vesacant and her forces. The city was razed to the ground and only with the skill and luck we possessed we made it out and made our way west to the Vales in hopes of safety. We had gathered the objects we were meant to safeguard, including our precious newborn and sought refuge with the King of the Vales.
Along our travels we heard news of uprisings by what many described as creatures of the abyss and we then knew what needed to be done. Seeking the renowned druids of the Vale we sought refuge for you my dear daughter and allied ourselves with the wood elves of the Vale. I cannot disclose what we might be doing in order to keep our mission safe but if we don't at least try then the world we know may be no more.
My dear Nelebrie I hope that when I had you this tale you learn to forgive me and your father for the choice we made. If we succeed then the world is in a better way so you may know the joys of life.

Dearest Nelebrie,
I know it's been sometime since I've written and I hope you are safe amongst the Circle there. Word has traveled to us here in the Dominion that Lorithra is beginning to become bold in her dealings and has gathered to her a small band for what I can only surmise. We have traveled the deserts here to seek and safeguard a piece for our mission with little luck. Oh but my child once you are away from the dreadful walls of Hawold then the wonders there are. Many of the the tribes here have proven to be friendly and have aided us with supplies and water. Yesterday your father spotted a brass dragon sunning on a dune, can you believe it! One day when this is all over maybe we'll be able to show you the old ruins that show so much history. Your father wishes you well and hopes you are not grieving the young prince and princess too much.

My Daughter,
We are lucky to be alive! Last night as we sailed back to the Shining Coast our ship was caught in the worst hurricane and run aground upon rocks. The bad news is many of the crew were lost at sea with a handful of sailors, your father, and myself the only survivors. The good news....we are near an island which can potentially safeguard us a while until we can get rescue. Your father says it's time to go to seek shelter, he seems to have found an old mine nearby.

Daughter,
This mine has been a boon and curse. We found several monstrous creatures here and tried to show we were friendly when they attacked. The sailors fought valiantly but in the last chamber and when confronting their leader they fell to a man. It's only with the skills your father and I possess that we were able to defeat the creature and ensure the rest of the chambers were clear. We found a small chamber with beautiful crystals and we will use it for our rest for a while. I'm so exhausted and I must treat your father's injuries. I will write soon.

Nelebrie,
It's been almost 10 days since we were stranded here on this island and the hopes of rescue at the time seem slim. The communication bowl I carried is lost at the bottom of the sea and without means of communication it falls to us to find our way home. Your father has located some suitable trees and plans to fashion a small boat for us. With the Lord and Lady's guidance I pray we may return safe and soon. Until then we have made our little nook our home. The creatures that stayed here have been curious but with your father's magic don't stray too close. The large pool in the central chamber has provided a bounty of food so we shall not starve. Speaking of which I must ensure that your father has eaten. Until later....

....they have found us, I do not know how but Lorithra's lackey's have found our refuge. Fortunately the safeguards your father has set have prevented them from entering. We must reserve our strength if we must fight. If these are my last words my dear daughter please know that we love you more then anything. We have safeguarded something very important with you and should the need arise and you'll know when to use it say these words tuhoeru burnerusa urfu tuhoeru vanurrould uliovaeru vaniotuhoion meru and the means will be your's. If things go well they will give up and we will be reunited....
