Positive Energy & Its Origins

Naza'Reem's introduction to his paper Positive Energy & Its Origins

As I am certain many of you have noticed, the School of Necromancy is rather odd duck. Necromancy itself is mysteriously self-dichotomous. It has the power to heal and harm, to create undead as well as revive life. Because of this, Necromancy is a rather polarizing magical class. Many Divine casters see it merely as the ultimate extension of deific power, channeled through the most adherent of followers Whereas the Arcane practitioners find Necromancy a portal to the next echelon of mortality, whatever that may be. One side sees Necromancy as a natural force to use with permission, the other sees it as a natural force with endless exploratory potential.
But where does this great power come from? Where do these essences of Negative and Positive power, the radiant and necrotic, come from? Each of the four traditions can access this great power yes, but the Divine seem to have the most interesting relationship with Necromancy. As the great Mance Rivenshale proved long ago all magic originated from the gods; it how we as mortals interact with it that defines the traditions. Therefore, the logical first place to look would be scripture.
Thanks to myriad holy texts, we know of the dark plane of Saratus. Any ‘study’ of Saratus often is reduced to religious prose and doomsday visions. That may at first seem frustrating, as there is little to no scientific study on the realm, but I feel it instead proves this plane has a clear connection to the Divine. And with the universe’s desire to balance all things, there must be an anti-Saratus, a place of light and Positive energies. There seems to be no written text on such a place, which is rather odd. But in order for darkness to exist, there must be light source.
My theory is that Saratus and its antitheses are the sources of Negative and Positive energy, respectively, and I also posit that this energy is merely part of the cycle of souls. For magic is how the gods, and now us mortals, modify the natural order. So if healing incantations and raising the dead are forms of magic that use Necromancy, it stands that there is a greater purpose for the energies. That this energy is refined here on our Material Plane into a living soul (the radiant) and then dies (the necrotic).
How to measure energy from this mysterious plane is the purpose of this paper. I am confident that is real, the question is merely how real. The implication of such a place is fascinating. A realm of raw soul essence.
