Talons of the Coast

A guild of scholars and adventurers alike, looking to explore to the corners of the world. The Talons of the Coast is a globe-spanning organization based out of Redawn City. The membership consists primarily of adventurers and scholars who travel throughout Eliosara to explore, delve, and otherwise experience the lesser-seen parts of the world. They send journals documenting their travels back to their guild masters, who also assigns them new missions and suggests new places to explore.
The day-to-day management of the Talons of the Coast is handled by its guild masters. These are usually older, accomplished members who have settled down and claimed a Guild Hall for themselves. They direct guild members in the field toward new and interesting locales, and receive the regular report. Guildmasters have several underlings that handle a variety of tasks.
The Talons of the Coast is willing to accept members of all backgrounds, creeds, and morals. Any applicant who does well enough overall on the initial tests is allowed to take the oath and become an initiate. Training is overseen by Preceptors. The final test is taken after one year as an initiate. The test is effectively the initiate's first mission; those who pass become fully fledged guild members, and those who fail are discharged from the guild.

History

Founded in the the Year 787 of the Third Era, the Talons of Coast was originally intended to act as a direct aide to the royal family. The founder of the guild, an elf by the name Caiynore Farvale, was an old friend of Agus Vallius, the third King of Tel, and was hoping to rekindle his relationship with Tel royalty. However, the royal contract quickly dried up, and the budding adventurer’s guild was forced to diversify, both with their clientele and scope of services.
The second Guildmaster, a human named Tylfaen Unalynn, was quite adept at facilitating such a change. She noticed there was a lack of skilled personnel for hire on the market that was more than a group of mercenaries but not as expensive as a wizard or private army. This middle ground was attractive to wealthy nobility, and so the Talons of the Coast quickly gained a reputation of capable adventurers for hire. And soon after, their ranks and coffers grew to the point that they had their own headquarters erected in the prestigious Redawn City district of Jopsy’s Stand.
However, it wasn't until the fourth Guildmaster, a dwarf named Baron Brewmaster, when the guild’s famous ideals of companionship and wanderlust were ingrained in the ethos of the guild. Brewmaster coined their now famous moniker of ‘Strength and Honor’ and started using the guild's earnings to finance their own expeditions, free from the meddlings of private contractors. This change attached even more to their ranks, and soon not just adventurers, but scholars, doctors, mages, diplomats, and inventors all fled to the Talons of the Coast guild halls looking to use their skills for a noble cause.
