Sanctus Noctis
" We aren"t any unholy beings. I don"t know why the Argonites keep thinking of that. Nocturna created us with the greatest of care and sent us down into this world. We don"t prey upon any children, nor do we engage in any sort of heresy or unholy practices. We do have a right to exist and live, just like any other living being. We were the creations of the gods after all, just like you and everyone else" Inarra Keras, speaking to Casper ChristiansenSanctus Noctis is a branch of the Sanctus Divinatus, the state religion as well as the most practiced one in The Sanguine Imperium. It mostly centers on the worship of Nocturna, goddess of the night and the progenitor of all vampires. Nocturna created undeadkind alongside Thanatos, the god of death, as a companion race to the humans who were created by her sister Aurora and her husband Regulus. Whilst undead revere all the deities of the main religion, Nocturna is far more revered more than the others alongside her husband Thanatos, for being the progenitors of the undead race.

I really love the opening quote so I'm intrigued to see more about this branch of a religion. Some questions about the article that crossed my mind and could be worth exploring: What exactly is considered unholy by vampires and the people? How does it get punished? What are the rules of this religion exactly and how much does it differ from the main one? How does a typical follower of Nocturna look like (besides that they're probably a vampire)? Do they have any special clothing or trinkets? Do the officials of this religion have some? Does Nocturna have any "churches" or other buildings dedicated to her and how do they look like? What are the ceremonies or feasts or other celebrations associated with her? Who else worships her besides vampires and why or why not? Creating a family tree for the main gods and how they relate to each other could also be very nice.
