Man and Argonite have fought for a thousand years now. Despite a relatively peaceful period for the last nine thousand years or so, the war they are currently fighting is the longest, deadliest and perhaps the most dangerous on Elladia. Millions have died in the cause of their nations, with some braving things that a civilian could scarcely comprehend
Yet, amongst all the bloodshed, carnage and dark things of war, a beacon of light gives a hope. It is the Treaty on Polar Research and exploration, perhaps the only case where all the major sapient races of Elladia combine their efforts and work together. Signed by High Seraph Alarius Christiansen and Argonite Emperor Tarkiel Larius, the treaty laid down the foundations for exploration and research as well as potential settlement of Elladia's two polar continents, Ultima Borealis and Ultima Australis. By the wordings of the treaty, Ultima Borealis would belong to the Sanguine Imperium whilst Australis will go to the Aegean empire but both sides had the right to explore and gain access to scientific information about the continents. This also applied to a select few territories, such as islands lying off the coast of these continents, which in very rare cases include places outside the continent ( Zaretan in Ultima Australis and the Bloodmoon Islands on Ultima Borealis)
