A travel guide describing the Zaraten Island

Halfway between the continent of Kilamen and Ultima Australis, one can find a relatively large island in an extremely isolated neighbourhood. There is no other land to be seen for thousands of kilometres, except for the cold icy reaches of the southern polar continent. The volcanoes erupt furiously, creating small short lived islands that are soon drowned by the waves again. But the main island of Zaraten, and a few of its hardy siblings stand strong amidst the bone chilling winds from the south.
Zaraten marks the boundary between the continent of Kilamen ( which is mostly submerged) and Ultima Australis, the largest continent on Elladia. It is diverse for its landscape. To the Northwest, one can find grasslands and extensive fields for agriculture which are caused by an unknown warm wind from further northwards. The rest of the island is mostly a mix of lava deserts, fiery volcanic landscapes and cold icecaps
Yet what makes Zaraten truly spectacular is its lifeforms. Zaraten is known to have some of the most unique flora and fauna on Elladia and most of the species found here are endemic to it. From the brutal swarms of Orb fish to the brutal Charvink which feeds on geothermal heat during the most active volcanic season, to the giant fell wasps that can tear a man to pieces and live around volcanoes, the island offers much for those willing to seek adventure and also those who have a passion for strange creatures
