5-3-2024, Strange Acquaintances and Stone Cages OR, Never trust an elderly wizard's memory to save you.
General Summary
After leaving the queen of pelts, the group of Aeon's Avengers stopped by Preserved, a local antiques dealer who had a knack for tinkering. The strange woman who ran the establishment had some sort of mechanical arm and was very defensive of her sketches when approached by Irabella. Freya and the woman haggled and she bought the shell shark that almost killed Freya for 8,500 gold pieces. During negotiations a strange wizard appeared out of the bathroom smelling terrible. He sold the shop keeper a strange duck that turns into a throwing star for 3 gold pieces. Flimp and the shop keeper then discussed making modifications to his crossbow. In exchange for 550 gold pieces, the shop keeper said in two days time she would be able to modify the crossbow into something that is more quiet and has better accuracy. Before leaving the shop, Chronos tried to buy the small strange duck device that the strange wizard sold to the shop keeper. The shop keeper named the price of 20 gold pieces. Chronos who had just learned about something called a "five finger discount" put 20 gold pieces on the counter then grabbed the duck shaped device out of Flimp's hands and ran out the door with it. The group later lectured Chronos on paying full price for items and explained what a five finger discount really was.
Since the evening was upon them, AA then traveled back to The Anchored Pillar with their strange new wizard friend in tow. When they arrived it seemed that the wizard, Axzar, was familiar with Irnas of the Anchored Pillar and his tower. Axzar was able to disable several of the traps inside of the pillar and enter unscathed. Irnas and Axzar bantered like very old, old, old, old, old, somewhere between acquaintances and enemies. Irnas sighed at the return of AA, a little sad that they managed to survive his request to bring him sea food, but begrudgingly told them about the The Rebirth Stones.
Irabella, ever curious asked if he had a stone, and Irnas was quite dodgy, and when Calista pressed about the bodies suspended in his laboratory and implied he may be conducting strange experiments Irnas became rather disgruntled. Despite the tense conversation, Irnas agreed to let AA spend the night in the tower, and Tiempo brought them, and Flimp's puppy to the guest quarters on the top level of the tower.
The top level of the tower was quite the mystery, it contained 5 very obviously enchanted doorways which Tiempo identified as private quarters for Irnas, Oakes, herself, a guest room, and a room she deemed "none of their business." After unlocking the guest quarters with the command, "Furl" the team (including their new strange wizard friend) entered a strange swaying room with hammocks that was very reminiscent of the sleeping quarters for the crew of a ship. The group got a much needed long rest.
Mid between the 6th Brights and Annulet Days
The group of Avengers enjoyed a long rest and awoke late morning exiting their quarters and being greeted by a tray of sandwiches. Upon exiting their quarters Freya just glimpsed the large stone door previously deemed "none of your business" slowly closing. She dashed and stuffed her foot in the door before it closed, taking a little bit of a crushed foot injury but gaining access to the space. The group spent some time looking around and determined the room contained a teleportation circle, but not much else. Upon reaching the door, they discovered it would not open for them. Chronos kicked the door as hard as they could and failed to breach it. Flimp and Freya both pushed and pulled the door. Irabella spent some time trying to blink to the other side of the door. Each time Irabella's blink would begin she felt an incredible force push her back. Calista the clever transformed into a small spider and attempted to squeeze under the door, only to get consistently pushed back each time she tried to get through. At this point Flimp gave the teleportation scroll he stole from Irnas' lab to Freya and she attempted to use it to gain an escape. The scroll immediately began to work as intended and Freya felt herself be torn through time and space, only to land 5 feet away in the center of the teleportation cicle in the room. After a couple of hours spinning their arms and wracking their brain to remember, Axzar finally remembered the pass code to this room was "Haul Wind" and was required to both enter and exit Irnas' teleportation room as a precaution to keep strangers from gaining access to the tower uninvited, even if they learned his coordinates. When they exited the room they went to retrieve the sandwiches left for them, but the tray was gone.
After breaking free of the teleportation room in midday, the group quickly made their way out of the tower under the keen memory of Freya able to call out all the correct commands to navigate the various traps in the tower. Upon exiting they found Tiempo, who expressed confusion at their sudden apperance. From Tiempo they learned that Irnas had left on business and would be back late in the evening. Tiempo ran back into the tower (with some unnatural speed) and retreived the sandwiches she had put away when she thought she had missed them early in the morning. Tiempo told the group of a few places around town they could investigate if they were looking for some work for hire.
