Alter of Esme

Off the road towards Eden, about a long days walk away, you'll find ruins, 3 standing colums with one tumbled to the ground, a broken statue standing upon pedastool on ground of cracking stone tiles. A crumbling and fallen in some places roof that looks questionable to stand under at best. All of this if you dig beneath the vines and plants that seem to be alive.   If you dare to clear the vegitation thick covering the ground you'll note that the tiles you walk on are all ornately carved, and in each corner there is a missing piece with an inscription in Abyssal.   On a central Pedastool, a state of Esme stands, her head gone and left arm broken off at the elbow outstreched in front of her, her right arm reaching towards what would have been her face. At her feet stands a large golden platter. A dirty plaque on her pedastool reads, "The Muse Esme, for the love." On the floor, just in front of the pedastool is a box about 6 inches wide, 12 inches long, and 10 inches tall, inscribed in Abyssal it says "She loves me to the moons and back, so please take her a piece of my heart'." This box has no lock, no hinges, and the lid is impossible to lift, it feels incredibly stuck and heavy. The tile in front of this box is missing and has an inscription in Abyssal as well.   On the floorway as you step into the alter, under a crumbling archway is a carving of 9 feminine figures sitting in a circle around one feminine figure.

Purpose / Function

The original purpose of The Alter of Esme was to give people a place to celebrate and give tribute to Esme, the Muse of Love Poetry and Lyrics. People would gather at her feet and leave offerings of flowers, chocolates, wines and spirits, and even sometimes a lock of their lovers' hair to trade for inspirtation. Esme's secret treasure has always stood presnt and those clever enough to answer her riddles have been able to retrieve a stone to unlock the passage to her mother's temple.

Alterations

Since the war of devotion ended, this alter has been plauged by ruin, and in more recent years the Prime Goddess Gaia has kept the area guarded by beasts to drive away any curious eyes.
