Vedmak

The Vedmak (Ved·mock) are an order of Witchers who protect the realm from monsters. The order remains in operation through funding of the kingdom. Collectors go out and find families willing to "donate" their children to the cause and are compensated some coin for their generosity. Since the group specifically consists of monster hunters, mostly boys are taken into the order. In order to achieve the proper mutations to benefit in the hunt of monsters, new members are force fed potions and incantations. Only approximately 30% of those who go through the trials survive.

Structure

The only form of heirarchy that exists within the order is that between the trainees and the head of the Vedmak. Collectors play no influence towards anyone within the order and once they are into the wild, fellow Vedmak try and avoid each others work.

Culture

Vedmak go about the lands in search of work that people are willing to pay them for. Typically, no task is too tall for these traditionally mighty and fierce hunters. Considering their odd mutations, most civilians of the land do not like them and often

Public Agenda

Publicly, the order was created in order to protect the lands from the various monsters that tend to ravish the populous. In more recent years, the order has grown weaker and more nefarious shadows have began to creep their way over the organization.

Technological Level

The Vedmak has lead the realm in alchemist advances. This, of course, because of the brutal and intense nature of the mutations involved.

Education

Those taken into the program are not given a traditional education. They are primarily taught the hunt. So, most leaving the program are more street smart, than book smart.

Divine Origins

The origins of the association was rumored to derive from ancient warriors prowling the lands who took potions and incantations to achieve mutations towards monster hunting. Once the Vedmak was founded, this same approach was taken. However, it took some time to properly achieve the specific mutation- in fact, it is still a risky process.

Ethics

The main goal of the organization is to protect the land of the monsters that roam and harm the people. As far as that goes, the Vedmak shows little concern for the safety and wellbeing of its members.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The funding for the Vedmak comes straight from Illendíl. This typically means that they get whatever budget and achieve whatever quotas the kingdom sets for them, often resulting in tense, awkward situations for Vedmak leadership.
