Elementalism

The Process and Outcomes of Preforming Elementalism

Elementalism is the act of converting all the Pure magic within one's own Soul into a particular Hue of magic, allowing for temporary immense amounts of power, at the cost of one's own life. This act can only be performed by the most skilled of mages, people who have gained such precise control over the Hues of magic they practice that they can convert Pure magic into it. This combined with the sheer force of will one needs to give their life for power creates a recipe for a rare but cataclysmic event, and the combined force of multiple Elementals being capable of destroying kingdoms and permanently shifting the landscape.

Requirements and Exceptions

Commiting the act of Elementalism is a difficult process, and as such committing this act and what results from it can be known as a Weavers magnum opus. To start one must learn of Elementalism, as most modern nations have decreed the act of Elementalism illegal and locked away the knowledge of its existence as a form of protection. However, as someone becomes more familiar with their magic and how they manipulate the magic around them, they will usually discover Elementalism naturally, however this info does not always come with the knowledge of the outcome. Even once one is aware of the act and its processes, it is still incredibly difficult to perform this forbidden magic. As for someone to commit this act, one must have achieved the peak form of the magics they practice, to the point where they have a deep and profound understanding of how it flows and it origin. However one must also look inward to perform this spell, as one must truly understand one's own Soul and its quirks in order to perform this spell to its truest potential. And above all else, one must possess resolve, the will to sacrifice one's life to meet one's goals. In conclusion, one must not only have a deep and profound understanding of the magics they practice, but also truly understand oneself, and everything that makes them them.

Stage 1

Once one has the potential and will to weave this magic, one must set off a chain reaction within one's own Soul, like a fuse running towards an explosion. This fuse is the force which will convert one's Soul into Hued magic. The activation of this ritual can be as simple as a snap of the fingers, or a careful ritual spelled out in runes centered in a spell circle. Over the course of about 5 minutes, the magics within one's own soul will convert to the aforementioned Hued form. As this happens, the person weaving the spell will gain slowly increasing amounts of magic. However, even just as someone begins to weave this spell, the power they will gain is immense, and it only increases more and more. At this point, most people will maintain their sanity, with the ability to Weave more magic then they could weave in a decade alone, at least for the first 2 or so minutes.

Stage 2

It is at this point in the weaving process that the trajectory of sanity begins to split, as every person who commits this act holds on for a different amount of time. There are some who choose to let the "beast" loose, not resisting the process at all. These usually lose thought processes around the 2 minute mark, even though all those who commit the act don't turn into an elemental till later down the line. Some choose to resist the madness relatively well, till around the 3-4 minute mark, at which point they start to lose sanity at a rapid pace, unable to be controlled by their will. Then there are those who can resist the madness for the full 5-ish minute timer. These people usually have strong exterior reasons for resisting the pull of madness, like a strong urge to protect someone who needs to escape the area, or to have all the energy unleashed at once. No matter what, around the 4 minute mark, all people commiting Elementalism will begin to physically glow, as cracks of light begin to form around their body resembling the true Hue of the magic they are converting into. No matter what, this is the last chance to cast the magic gifted by the ritual, however it will be more magic than any living person will ever weave in their natural lifespan.

Stage 3

Around the 5 minute mark, all hell will break loose, as the person Weaving the spell will begin to physically emit massive amounts of Hued magic through the cracks in their body. Eventually, it will reach a breaking point, and as the last of the Soul within one's body is converted, the hypothetical "fuse" will end, and all the magic stored within the soul will explode outward with the force of a bomb, permanently shifting the landscape into that type of magic, if possible. It then implodes back in upon itself, causing a secondary wave, forming into a being of pure magic, an Elemental. These beings are made of 100% hued magic, with no soul within, and thus not capable of death by age. However, one thing from the person that used to be will remain, the last will of the person weaving the ritual will be imprinted upon the Elemental, a last memory of pure Emotion magic, formed in the last moments of the person it used to be. The Elemental will proceed to exist, a volatile being of pure magic, eternally acting out its last will, with no mind or reason whatsoever. However, even this powerfull Emotion magic can only survive so long, as after around 50-150 years of life this magic will slowly dissopate into nothingness, turning the beast into one of pure instinct and bile. These beings are the most dangerous of all intelligent life, with the slaying of an Elemental by oneself being a monumental task equivalent to slaying an entire army single handedly. Once an Elemental dies, the magic making up what used to be its soul will violently rebound back into pure magic, as the force which keeps Soul magic from converting itself into Hues is violently activated. The reason it is even possible to bypass this force is just a testament to the experience required to perform this act.

Conclusion

Elementalism is one of the most dangerous acts one can commit, often shifting entire landscapes single handedly. However it is also an act of tragedy and sacrifice, with those committing this act for the good of the world being eternally seen as heroes, and those commiting it for personal goals and evil haunting the lives of the world for generations.
