Simon Hayes

Simon Hayes was born in our humble town around 20 years ago. He quickly showed aptitude for the written word forming wild stories of monsters and gods. The land praised him and his art went far and wide. He perferred horror and was the best at it, but during his 20th year he met the love of his life. He never named her and she was never seen, but he often called her his Muse in his writing and in a fit of joy and a wish he started to experiment with poetry and Simon the terror quickly turned to Simon the poet.   With great effort and some beautiful meter, Simon won over his Muse and they had a wonderful loving relationship though their beliefs were often at odds with one another. During this time Simon continued on with poetry creating one collection that sold rapidly among lovestruck couples.   Unfortunately the relationship would not last and Ariel would dissappear one day leading Simon down a spiral of which he wouldn't return. Strangely he didn't go back to horror and chose to continue with poetry though it grew darker with every verse. There's even a collection of his poems where he added on to his most famous poem "Oh my Muse", creating several new lines filled with death and inane ramblings.   Simon would eventually disappear just like his partner and given the decline in his work everyone assumed the worst, though some claim to have still seen him around town under a different name and a thinner face. Whatever the case may be Elmwood Port has taken to emphasizing the legend a bit with festivals and parties at book stores building the story and trying to get fans from around the world to come together again and possibly spend a little tourism money as well.
