East Surmont
Geography
East Surmont is a pastoral land. Originally, it was said that East Surmont was very alike to West Surmont. Indeed, it still retains many of the same characteristics of West Surmont: there are many mountains, hills, and forests. However, the jaggedness and rockiness of West Surmont has since been weathered. East Surmont has a very rounded feel to it. The fertile lands from the Great Organics, when they came under Imperial control, provided higher quality, cheaper, and more multitudinous grain than East Surmont, resulting in the Crisis of East Surmont. This was eventually solved when the Kingdom of Ilfalar began importing grain from East Surmont.
East Surmont has many windmills and a very fairytale-like feel. Sprawling towns with sheep and pig pens, castles, churches, craftsmen guilds, and herding huts are littered throughout East Surmont. Imperial military influence on the land is very lax; however, despite this, East Surmont has never had a civil revolt, usually because the citizens are intelligent enough to realize that if they were ever to revolt, soldiers from the Fortress Sofayon would crush any rebellion.
