cavansite

Properties

Material Characteristics

blue, glossy conglomerate crystalline rock, usually found in spheres or balls made up of outward-pointing segments called "blades"

History & Usage

Everyday use

Cavansite is believed to be petrified shell from some kind of dragon. It takes a long time to heat up in an oven, but once it reaches that temperature, it radiates evenly for a long time. Bakers, ceramists, bricklayers, and even some metalsmiths recommend a set of matched cavansite stones within the heating area of any temperature-related manufacturing process in order to get the best results.
