Harpy
Spirits of the Clouds
The harpy species, like medusas and kobolds, are distant relations of dragons.
Harpies have the appearance of a hybrid species with aspects of both humans and a bird with wings and a predatory bird's claws. Unlike the other species that are offshoots of dragons, harpies have a full covering of feathers and down. These feathers differ in coloration depending on the environment. In more jungle and forested climates, they have a coloration pattern like red falcons, eagles or even parrots. In colder climates, harpy feather coloration tends towards darker tones like a raven or an owl.
As their height is approximately that of an elf or a human, harpies can - in poor light - almost pass for a human or an elf.
Their eyes, however, show their heritage as they tend to be yellow, blue or green draconic-reptilian eyes and their teeth match those of a dragon's rather than the blunted teeth of a human, elf, halfling and so on.
They do have two arms and legs in addition to the wings. But the wings aren't just for show, as harpies have light, agile body frames that allow them to stay aloft more easily in flight.
