Ministry Inquisitor

Above the archivists are the inquisitors. These are archivists that have shown special talent or skill at deduction and nimble combat magics with little regard for mercy.
The inquisitor's primary role is to police the general activity of the Ministry's members and protect the Ministry when needed. They present a calm demeanor but underneath lies a murderous soul of steel as they constantly hunt for threats to the Ministry from both without and from within.
Ranks of the inquisitors aren't as numerous as the archivists but what they lack in numbers, they make up for in sheer power.
In addition, inquisitors are called on by archivists to handle touchy situations that might threaten the Ministry. Perhaps it's a mage who has discovered strong evidence of the Ministry at work. If so, an inquisitor would be dispatched to erase the evidence and perhaps assassinate the mage as well. Their nickname of "Snatch-Blades" in reference to their spring-loaded hidden forearm blades is well-earned.
Inquisitors often have refined skills in stealth and strategy and a high degree of skill in more combat specific spells and alchemy. Many inquisitors often focus on specializing in certain types of weapons, spells or alchemy ( such as poisons ) as part of their role.
