Pisky
Children of Magic
Of all the races, most consider Piskies to be relatives of the elusive and dangerous 'Fey'. But in reality, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Pixkies are a deep forest, jungle or swamp dwelling folk. Some of their larger settlements can be found in the swamps and forests at the southeastern edge of Samakar, but they are also seen in mountain forests of the Northiron Mountains and as far away as the distant lands of the Jade Empire.
The pisky folk are a resourceful lot, merging their love the natural world with advanced alchemy and engineering of their settlements. Most piskies will settle in a dense forest, swamp or jungle, to use the environment as a natural defense against thieves and gangs that might try and rob the locals.
Despite the reclusive nature of their settlements, piskies are naturally curious. This curiosity tends to drive them to seek out nearby non-piskie settlements or common trade routes. Which can lead to the occasional culture clash between the inquisity piskie and any nearby non-piskies.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Piskies are humanoid in appearance save for their blue skin, diminutive stature and colorful moth or butterfly-colored dragonfly wings.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Piskies are humanoid in appearance with pointed ears much like an elf. Their eyes are quite human right down to sharing the same range of colors as humans. But piskie hair is quite different. At birth, piskie hair is snow white and grows darker until it's a coal black at advanced age.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Pixkies are found in dense forests in lands such as the Geldar Republic, Samakar, the jungles of southeast A'qadia and so on.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
While they prefer to live in dense natural settings, they don't have the darkvision goblins have. Instead they have an excellent low light vision that enables them to see twice as far as other races in dim light.
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Tattooing is a part of the piskie cultural heritage. It's a holdover from their early tribal days where a tattoo would be placed upon a person to grant good luck or other boons.
Currently, piskie tattoos are as much personal adornment as they are familial association. PIskie families and extended families have geometric pattern designs that are worn from one generation to the next. Other designs are always incorporated by an individual piskie based on personal choice of art, or perhaps to commemorate a great event or deed.
History
While its not common knowledge, piskies are not descended from the Fey. Instead, piskies can trace their origins back to the early days not long after humans crossed the Longgrass plains in the midst oft he elven Magi War.
During that time magical engines were constructed and used. These ancient devices could generate spells and spell effects that could span entire kingdoms. Such an engine was used which impacted a human settlement on the edge of the ancient elven lands. The humans caught in the effect were twisted and permanently affected by uncontrolled dimensional rift magic.
The result was the piskies. So as such, piskies are actually related to humans.

Pixie Dust: When a pixie fires an arrow from any bow, it can decide to change the arrow’s properties by sprinkling it with magical pixie dust. Doing so is a free action as long as the pixie is the one who fires the arrow. A pixie can generate a number of uses of dust equal to its Charisma score each day. The dust is useless to another creature unless the pixie gives the dust freely. In this case, the pixie chooses what effect the dust will have on an arrow when it is applied, and it takes a standard action to apply the dust to the arrow. Once pixie dust is applied to an arrow, the pixie’s chosen effect persists on the arrow for only 1 round. As long as an arrow is altered in this way, it does not inflict damage when it hits; it only causes its new effect. A pixie can choose any one of the following three effects when dusting an arrow (save DCs are Charisma-based):
- Charm: The target must succeed on a Will save or be affected as though by a charm monster spell for 10 minutes.
- Memory Loss: The target must succeed on a Will save or be affected by a modify memory spell.
- Sleep: The target must succeed on a Will save or fall asleep for 5 minutes.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
A piskie's skin is a soft cobalt blue. Their wings are shaped like a dragonfly's wings but have the coloration of a moth or butterfly. The wings look fragile but are quite strong, allowing a piskie to be able to fly in strong storms and high wind.
PIskie wings do more than just aid in flight, they also can be an indication of a given piskie's current mood.
Wing color changes and reflects the piskie's more extreme emotional reactions. These can range from blues or greens all the way to purple and deep crimson or bright red.
Despite the shifting color, all piskie wings share the black trim and stripes that frame the color-changing, translucent portion. The patterns of these stripes vary between piskie groups. Some ethnicities use the patterns to trace lineages across the generations.
