Bloodborn. Sorcerers. These are the rare folk that appears across Elohey who are born with raw magical power filling their essence, their very being. A common saying of "it's in the blood" is more than just a saying with a sorcerer. It's their life.

Sorcerous bloodlines come from a variety of sources. Many bloodlines are elemental in nature, due to the sorcerer's ancestors living in a place where the boundary between Elohey and an elemental plane wore thin, exposing those nearby to raw elemental magic. Others can trace their powers back to an ancestor who was an extra-planar being, such as a djinn or an abyssal lord. All cultures have stories of sorcerers in their midst from all over Elohey.

Unlike wizards, clerics, or paladins, a sorcerer's power comes from within. This innate reserve of magical energy powers their spells, sometimes skills, resulting in amazing feats of spellcasting.

A Note On Playing a Bloodborn

Why even play a sorcerer, one of the bloodborn, when a character could be a wizard? It's a good question. Sorcerers have a much more limited list of spells to choose from, nor can they just change their spells on a whim. First off is concept. Sorcerous bloodlines are themed. Their powers and spells come from within as they learn to harness the magics they are born with. Another reason is that where wizards have more spells, most wizards require spell components to cast their spells. Also, a wizard must have their spell book to cast anything. A sorcerer also needs a spellbook but they have certain spell-like powers that are just theirs to command. They don't require a spellbook, only just the willpower to use them.
