Arquebus
The arquebus, or, as its better known in some parts of the world, the Flicker-Hollow is a projectile-based weapon, which uses a powder combination of sulfur, charcoal, and saltpeter, to launch small projectile munitions at high-speed velocities. To achieve this, a small thread of string or rope is fastened into a hole on the side of the barrel of the weapon which can be ignited via fuse from a hot pricker. Once flame comes into contact with the black powder it causes a miniaturized explosive ball of fire, which releases enough kinetic force to propel the small munition, which is loaded into the front of the barrel, out the other side at such a speed that it has been recorded to be able to penetrate even the thickest of armors with a well placed shot and fine enough black powder mixture.
Manufacturing
Though relatively simple in design, the required skill to successfully craft and smith an arquebus is extensively difficult; it is only with the technological advancement of the Lathe that the dagavirm of the Northern Burrows were able to first produce these weapons. The lathe allows craftsmen to create near-perfectly circular-smooth barrels. Without a proper arquebus barrel, the weapon becomes lame and dangerous to its user; unable to properly propel the munition, the kinetic energy will be blocked and rupture the barrel, possibly even causing a misfire that destroys the weapon and kills or mortally wounds the wielder.
