Runsarvi (Rhu-en-sar-vee)

The Runsarvi is a potent magical artifact that was created by Auuio, the godling known as the Preserver. The Runsarvi resembles a dessicated and twisted horn that is approximately 0.5m in length with a jagged, broken tip.   The Runsarvi is a vessel to hold the concentrated magical abilities of godlings who no longer roam Elotia, as well as the collected magics of countless people inflicted with pulheki. Due to the pure concentration of magic contained within the Runsarvi, it is considered too dangerous for even most godlings to handle without significant care and diligence, and so the exact location of the Runsarvi is known by very few.

History

The history of the Runsarvi comes from the oral traditions of the Ru people, who have stories of its creation that have been passed down from their ancestors. According to these stories, once the Epoch of the Godlings ended and general peace came over Elotia, Auuio began to concern themselves with how to preserve some aspect of what the godlings themselves were, and what gave life in Elotia. Auuio already had vast collections of items, creatures, and all manner of other things, but they had no way to preserve the specific "life" of any person or godling. So, Auuio set about trying to create a method to collect "life", and through a pact with two other godlings, Auuio was able to create the Runsarvi by slaughtering a group of people afflicted with pulheki while a godling passed beyond. The artifact itself is the horn of one of those pulheki victims.   After the artifact was first created, Auuio spent much of the rest of their time attempting to capture the magical essence of others through their deaths, and some say that Auuio eventually came to believe that they could erase pulheki from Elotia if they killed all those living with pulheki and captured their essence in the Runsarvi. Eventually, this plan drove Auuio to the edge of madness and they began to turn again to violence against the other godlings. One Ru story claims that Auuio themself was eventually drawn into the Runsarvi, having injured themselves in a mad plan to kill another godling with the horn.

While some magic wielders have attempted to create similar artifacts (specifically through collecting magics absorbed by pulheki mutations), these efforts have largely proved catastrophic for the attempter and often deadly for those in the immediate vicinity. Whether other godlings are capable of producing such an artifact is unknown, and Auuio's fate remains equally unclear.
