Degguldaar (Deg-ull-dar)

Overview

Degguldaar is a Dwarven City-State within the confederacy that is the Gaulfell Conglomerate. It lies in the Southern Reaches of the Gaulfells and is the home to intellectual thought and magic prowess within the empire. The City is mostly within the mountains, but has an exterior presence on the face of a cliff. The road up to Degguldaar is much more arduous than the streamlined Dwarven roads within the mountains.

Deeping Core

The Deeping Core is located at the bottom of the cavern, in the very center. Nothing resides above the buildings here, and it is heavily guarded.

Marblecrest Vault

An archeological and Scholarly Institute, the Marblecrest Vault is possibly the most vast source of knowledge in all Qezun. It's main competitors are the Libray of the Kreis School of Quintessence as well as the Denastis Institute in Caldion to a lesser extent.   It was founded to look for relics of old Bahn Hagborum, as well as search for the destroyed city itself.   The building sits within the massive cavern of Deeping Core, a u-shaped structure with a central courtyard. On either side are domed towers connected by large alcoves to the core building, also domed. The walls are made of pale grey marble and the roof of glittering green malachite shingles.   Notable researchers include:   Nosolydd Battlespire - Head librarian of the Vault, Nosolydd is a fiery Dwarf of grizzled make. He seems to bear the scars of deep exploring, and has a bronze leg attached to his left knee. He's very knowledgable of the city and the Vault itself.   Kaldrem Onyxhelm - Kaldrem is the chief artifact curator of Marblecrest. She catalogues and researches all recovered artifacts and items from archeological sites.   Helduri Flintbreaker - Helduri is the chief lorekeeper of Marblecrest. He knows pretty much everything the is to know about the history of Bahn Hagborum as well as the Gaulfell Conglomerate.   Timran Wayforger - Timran Wayforger is the head of the loreseekers. She is a powerfully built Dwarf who often braves passages in the underdark and leads expeditions to Iudossos to seach for the destroyed city.   Ogrun Allseer - Ogrun Allseer is a sage of the Marblecrest Vault as well as a scholar on the ways beneath the earth. He often seeks prescient visions and searched for mentions of new passages throughout the histories collected.   Instead of eyes, Ogrun has a set of enchanted white opals embedded in his eye sockets. Inlaid within the gems are irises, one of sapphire and one of emerals, and two black diamond pupils.

Stonestaff Hall

Stonestaff Hall is the home of all Dwarven Arcane knowledge. It is where all Dwarven spellworkers come, whether they are clerics, wizards, bards, or even artificers. Indeed, this is the only place on the planet where artifice is taught (as it is an entirely new magic). There is only one artificer in full here, but many students would be considered minor artificers (lvl 1-2).   The school is half tunneled into a cliff face. The exterior portion of the building is an A-frame made of deep red carnellian stone. Where it's front door would be a grand statue sits depicting a Dwarven wizard in mid-spell, a staff held in front of her with both hands. A grand doorway can be seen within the statue's dais.   The Archwizard (Stonestaff) resides within the statue, with it being their tower. The hall is currently minded by Stonestaff Farni Fathomseeker.

The Spirit Forge

The Spirit Forge serves two functions, though the Dwarves would argue it's one. The Forge is the primary place of worship to the god Moradin. It's also the only place in the world where mortals attempt pure creation. Long ago some Dwarven smiths possessed a skill given to them by Moradin himself; the power to imbue metal and stone with the power of creation. They were able to create automotons of pure conciousness; in other words, they were able to create souls. Since the fall of Bahn Hagborum, the Dwarves of the Gaulfells have been seeking to rediscover the city's many innovations, Soul Forging included. As of yet, they've only been able to create golems and other machinations, but nothing driven by a soul. And so, they toil on.   The forge itself is a half dome of blackened steel. Within it are various geometric channels in which lava flows, originating from a hole in the cavern above. The lava flows continuously down the dome and into holes that lead inside. These hole are linked to channels and run through great metal forges, keeping them molten hot. The lava is then expelled into underground tubes that leads to an enormous cavern below.

Stormhold

Stormhold is home to the King of Degguldaar. The keep itself is built against a overhanging shelf, walls extending out from the cliff to form three sides, like a trapezoid. The walls extend up almost to where the lip overhangs. Within the walls sits a large square keep of dark stone laced with chunks of raw sapphires that seem to glow with arcane light.

Tunneller's Perch

Where Clan Stormbrewer origninally made camp, Tunneler's Perch was the first portion of the city to be created. As such, it is connected to the Great Dwarven Highway. A large neigborhood has been built up around it, including inns, smithys, and rare curio shops.   Taverns:   Typical beers and liquors you might find here - Stonesleep Ale, Bitterbowl Porter, Leadgut Whiskey, Banshee Spirit (Vodka), Stoutborn's Stout, Dragon's Bite Fire Wine, Toebiter Brandy   Flintbeard's Taphouse - Flintbeard runs a rowdy establishment, but makes sure that everyone is well served. He's known for his king sized portions of food and drink alike, and has reasonably priced rooms for rent.   Menu - A large fire kissed Rutabaga drowned in butter, with pulled roased goat and cheese mixed into it. Accompanying this is a mushroom and boar stew.   The Hearty Hearth - The Hearty Hearth is operated by an exceptionally tall Dwarven woman name Toralda Halfmug. She is kind, fiery, and encourages fist fights.   Menu - A traditional meal of suckling pig, pickled onions and beets, and grilled leeks.   Restaurants:   Deep King's Mushroom Garden - An ornate looking stone building, this is a facade for an otherwise underwhelming experience. The owner/waitstaff is a squat Dwarven man named Lunderbum Brittlebeard. He is kind and courteous enough, but is clearly serving mushroom slop.

Axegarden Market

Axegarden is the market within the Tunnelers Perch. While there are open air stalls, many of the stores are squat single story buildings that house sitting/product testing rooms. The basements are the actual storefronts themselves. On top of many of these shops are outdoor loungeing areas where business can be discussed in the open air.   Weapons and Armor Stores:   Koralduur's Strength -   Pig Sticker's -   The Iron Carapace -   Bookstores:   Storyteller's Trove -   Bound In Iron -

Greatbrow Terrace

  Breweries:   Stormbrewers -   Toebiter's -   Leadhammer Battlegrounds:
