Riverbend

Overview

Riverbend is a small fishing and trading town that runs along the Reidress Channel. The town is right on the river, with docks running the length of it. Swarms of poleboats can be found upon the Reidress pretty much any time of day, from dawn until well past midnight.

Town Head's Hall -   Tibault Efrium is the head of Riverbend, given authority by Duke Adrien Costeau. He is average height with a protruding brow, greasy brown hair, and a large nose. Contrary to his appearance Tibault is kind, warm, and loves adventurers because of their utility. He'll happily pay them coin to solve town problems.   Fishmongers -   Adolfo - An elderly tan skinned fisherman who puts out his boat first in the mornings, the earliest riser of the fishermen. He is kind and fair.   Elvin - A bit slow and silly, Elvin is a simple fisheman.   Lomarr - Dark of skin and charming in demeanor, Lamarr has a certain charisma not found among many fishmongers.   Ferry -   Vokan is one of the few Ferrymen in Riverbend, a human male of poorer stock.   Umeric Ambermoon is a Half Elf Ferryman who tends to wind up and down the river on his poleboat. He lives in Riverbend, but he was upstream in Drasburgh. His father was from Allanar, his mother a tailor in Drasburgh. His Mother died of old age some time ago.   General Goods -   Ulrich's Bits and Bobs: Ulrich Nokrem is an establishment in the community, and his store a staple. This is where you can buy all your general goods.   Building Supplies -   The Jolly Builder - The Jolly Builder is owned by a massive human man with full lumberjack beard named Bellamy Weller. He has several timberman on contract who fall trees to the North and bring it down to Riverbend, and he also buys wood and stone from traders who wander downstream. A jovial man, he fits the name of his store well.   Temple -   The temple is a simple wood building, with a base of unmortared stone. This temple is dedicated to Melora The Wildmother, despite the Ascendancy's laws. The Duke of Oromond seems to let it slide in return for a portion of the tithes. The interior is a simple T shape with a kitchen and living quarters on the right, and a couple of bedrooms on the left. The central chamber holds pews and an altar, a very simple place for worship.   The Priestess is a woman named Hessia Thrann   Inn -   The River's Edge Tavern: Named quite accurately, the tavern butts right up against the edge of the river, with a small retaining wall keeping it from sliding in. There's no stable, as most folks who stay here work the poleboats. The owners, Hendrick and Tanya, have great pride in their establishment. Their children (Holden, Grecia, and Mariel) run amok everywhere throughout. The Tavern is one of the largest buildings in the town, as many travelers come by boat and want a nice place to stay.   Dockside Traders -   Dockside Trading Stand: The trading stands are full of different people, with different items to offer most every week.   Cirilo's Poleboat - Cirilo Zelia is an old man who technically lives in Caldion, but spends half the year trading up and down the Riedress from Drasburgh to Riverbend. He owns a seasonal summer harvest market grounds within the city, and supplements his income throughout the year. He's quite rich in normal terms, but would be considered average in wealth compared to some nobles and the wealthy of most cities.   Butcher -   Kira's Butcher Shop - Kira is the butcher in town, buying livestock from the surrounding farms. She is short, stout, and always covered in blood. Her storefront is a nice building of timber, with glass panes and an actual stone tiled floor.   Baker -   Merwin's Baked Goods - Merwin is the Baker for Riverbend, and while his work isn't necessarily pretty, it's tasty. He apprenticed in a Starteich city so he knows how to make some pastries, and even a specialty, potato bread.   Tailor -   Edith's Threads and Bobs - Edith is a sweet old woman who's lived in Riverbend her whole life. She's kind, willing to do custom work, and skilled.   Blacksmith -   Ioren, the blacksmith is a woman Aasimar. She is very tall, with silver hair and pale skin, lightly green. She also has eyes that shine a pale blue, no irises. She is sparse with words, but if pressed she speaks on her race, and states her divine mission is to protect the people here. She thinks.   Farmsteads -     Explore more of this world in our Actual Play Podcast
