Clinking Coin

The clinking coin the the primary Merchants Guild within Lortus.
The Clinking Coin enforces contracts among its members and between members and other organizations. The guild also policies its members’ behavior. The guild has authority by the House of the Sword to seize goods within the city in Lortus, and to use mercenaries to protect its assets.

Membership

To become a member of The Clinking Coin, the applicant must provide a ledger with proof of monthlong net profits of 50gp and pay a hefty application fee of 100gp. Annual dues of 50gp are due on the anniversary of the membership.
Benefits of membership include:

Access to the guilds accounting departments

Lower taxes/fees on importing/exporting goods

Ability to hire Mercenaries to protect assets, rather than rely on Lortus guardsmen

Advocation for rights against the rulers of the Torian Kingdom

Elections

Guild Leader, Ambassador and Treasurer are high positions within The Clinking Coin that are elected. In addition, committees of the guild have elected membership. Examples of such committees are the Banking Committee, the Magiscience Committee and the Transportation Committee. Elections are held in the fall every 2 years, with high positions on a 4 year cycle. Special elections may be held in case of a position being vacated, oft due to resignation or death of the guild member. Only Clinking Coin guild members are eldigble to vote, and must do so in person at the guild hall.
