Spellcraft - Int; Trained Only
Spellcraft takes on additional functionality for Arcane Spellcasters (channelers) in the following ways:
Link Channelers: Creating a channeling link requires a Spellcraft check from all participants. The leader rolls against a DC 20 + 1/4 the total number of participants; all other participants against a DC 5 + 1/4 the total number of participants. For example, for a circle of 13 channelers (the maximum number possible in a circle with no men), the DC is 23 for the leader and 8 for the other participants. Creating a link is a full-round action. See One Power for more details on linking channelers.
Overchannel: Overchanneling allows a channeler to cast additional or higher-level spells beyond those normally allowed by her class, level, and ability bonuses. See One Power for more details on overchanneling
Identifying Channelers: Channelers can determine whether the ability to channel is present within an individual and to what degree of power. This can only be done by a channeler of the same gender as the individual being observed. To do this, the channeler must make a spellcraft check.
A result of 15 or more tells whether the individual has one or more levels in an arcane spellcasting class. It does not reveal how many levels or in which class. A result of 20 or more reveals the power of the individual relative to the viewer (either stronger, weaker, or about the same), to determine this add their intelligence, wisdom, and charisma modifiers to their caster level. If the subject’s total is 4 or more lower of the viewer’s, they are “weaker”; if the subject’s total is within 3 of the viewer’s, they are “about the same”; if the subject’s total is 4 or more higher than the viewer’s, they are “stronger”.
A result of 25 or more tells precisely how strong or weak the subject is compared to the viewer. They learn the exact difference in their total Int-Wis-Cha-Level scores, though they do not learn how many channeling levels the subject has, what class they are in, or what her precise ability bonuses are, it only reveals the total. Weavesight: Innatists (oracles, sorcerers, summoners, bloodragers, etc.) can learn new spells simply by observing them. In order to do this, a s
pellcaster must identify the spell being cast; if successful, they may then attempt another spellcraft check (DC 20 + Spell level).Link Channelers: Creating a channeling link requires a Spellcraft check from all participants. In order to learn a spell through weavesight, a channeler must have the required ability score in order to cast that level of spell, for example, a sorcerer must have a charisma of, at least, 14 in order to learn a fourth level spell through weavesight. Provided the channeler has the required ability score, a channeler may use weavesight to learn a spell of a higher level than they can normally cast, however, the DC is increased by 5.
Try Again: Linking and overchanneling attempts may be retried, though a success doesn't cancel the effects of a previous failure, which almost always is the loss of the spell being cast. Identifying a channel may be retried as many times as you desire. Weavesight checks may only be retried if the same spell is cast again.
