Nath
Physical Description
Nath are mantis like people, with four legs and two arms. Their heads are more similar to a butterfly, having a long curled proboscis rather than a mouth. They are covered in a soft fur over top their chitin, like a bee. They are known for their ability to jump extraordinary heights and distances. It is common in battle to see a Nath move around purely via leaps.

Body Type: Insect
Natural Armor (Chitonous Exoskeleton): Nath have a hard shell of chitin that protects them and provides support for their body in place of bones and skin.
Other Special Abilities
Spring Legs: When determining jumping height, Nath can jump an additional 6m vertically, or 12m horizontally. Halve these values for jumps done without at least 5m of running prior.
Caustic Spit: Nath acid does little to non-organic substances and is fairly weak unless they have undergone metamorphasis. As an action, a Nath can make an Unarmed roll to spit this acid up to 3 meters away. The acid specifically targets organic substances (such as muscle, leather, and wood) and will not damage non-organic objects. Treat this acid as a weak acid according to the Acid rules, but increase the damage by one step (1d2 -> 1d4).
Nath hold up to 2 attacks worth of caustic spit at a time, and can produce enough acid to spit every 8 hours. The acid evaporates quickly, losing potency after 30 seconds of exposure to air.
Conditional Metamorphosis: Nath are herbivores, but not obligate herbivores. After consuming flesh they undergo a physiological shift, their hair falls out, their chitin thickens, and their proboscis uncurls, becoming hard and needle like. This change in their body is accompanied by a change in personality, they become more aggresive and have a harder time expressing self control. Additionally their acid strengthens in intensity. Some Nath are unable to bear the metamorphasis and fall into a coma or go insane. Once a Nath has gone through this metamorphisis, they are not able to undo it — it is a permanant alteration.
Upon metamorphosis the following effects occur:
- Lose 4 INT and CHA
- Gain 4 DEX and POW
- Increase the potency of Caustic Spit to a strong acid (as per normal Caustic Spit, the damage of the acid is one step higher than what is listed for an acid of that potency). Increase range to 6m. Caustic Spit can now damage non-organic objects.
- Increase exoskeleton DR by 1 in all hit locations
Metamorphed Nath are referred to as Amnathkal. There is general disdain for the Amnathkal, though Naean culture respects Amnathkal in certain ordained positions with plenty of ceremony involved.
