Riftstone

Riftstone is a two-worlds material, it is capable of interacting with both corporeal and incorporeal entities. Riftstone presents a natural barrier to incorporeal entities, making a useful material for protecting valuables and secrets. Riftstone does not completely block travel by incorporeal beings, rather it harms any that would travel through it and requiring a force of will to cross at all. Incorporeal entities trying to pass through riftstone must first succeed a Willpower roll, and then receive 1d6 damage to all hit locations. This only applies to sufficiently dense and large quantities of riftstone, weapons made of riftstone would be too thin to cause anything more than minor damage, though this is still better than not being able to strike incorporeal creatures at all.

Riftstone's abilities to countermand incorporeal beings can be improved through metallurgy, it is used as a component to create riftsilver, a similar but stronger substance. This same ability also makes it a poor material to weave upon, the material itself interfering with the magical energies -- objects made of riftstone have 1 less rune slot.

Riftstone is mined in the Tazam and Timnai Mountains. Riftstone is dark black and can be polished to look similar to obsidian.
