Vsatham

Vsatham are large spiders found in caverns and other dark places, generally around the foothills of the Inner Sea region of Akzoriel. Vsatham produce incredibly tough silk rather than webs, which while not sticky, are used to create elaborate structures and traps. They look like normal spiders, but their forelegs split at the end into long sharp fingers with enough dexterity to quickly weave their silk.

Vsatham are seen as highly intelligent creatures and are widely feared. They like to use their environment to harry their prey, digging pits and camoflauging them, setting up deadfall traps, and coralling enemies into dead ends. They work together as a community and will run away when sufficiently threatened, making them a hard pest to be rid of.

Vsatham cannot be domesticated, but sometimes their silk is often harvested to make lightweight, durable cloth.

There are plenty of rumors of other powers, poisons, and tactics the Vsatham possess but little of it is verified.
