Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Coins of Yophas

Most major Yophasian civilizations function on a currency-based system of economics, and due to long efforts of standardization during the Age of Rebirth (which thankfully carried over through the Reckoning), almost all currency economies use the same four denominations of coins. Those coins, from least value to highest, are as follows:
  • Chits: pure lead coins about the size of a dime. These are far and away the most common coins in Yophas, and tend to make the backbone of everyday transactions.
  • Chips: lead coins with an outer rim of gold, slightly larger than a chit. Worth ten chits.
  • Coins: gold coins with an outer rim of lead, same size as a chip. Worth ten chips.
  • Pieces: pure gold coins, slightly larger than coins. Worth ten coins.

Why Lead and Gold?

Lead and gold are used as the coins of Yophas because they are antimagic. Lead and gold cannot be enchanted or transmuted, so the coins are safe from magical influence.
