Emaxus is currently undergoing a large entry into a new Age (and a large revision of the current Age). Consider this an active construction zone: things are moving around, getting changed, and the world's being reorganized. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Obsidian Lords

What to Expect Here

Within the five articles found herein, you will find details regarding each of the five Obsidian Lords: their depictions, how their worshippers are distributed and how they worship, the gods' champions, the gods' and their followers' foes and allies, and much, much more.
When the Silver Dawn smote Vivrah at the dawn of the Reshaping, His divine essence did not simply keel over and fade. Indeed, from it, a set of five nascent divine souls were born. Each was a creature of singular desire, a representation of the different divine forces and domains Vivrah controlled and wielded. Yamma looked upon these infantile gods with fear, and created the great prison-plane of Accorion to lock them within before they could pose a threat.   But this did not solve the problem these gods would pose, it merely set it back. These divine souls did return, fully grown and wrathful, for they had known only isolation since their conception and they sought revenge against he who consigned them to their fate. Thus, the Obsidian Lords were born. Wrathful, evil, and with the echoes of Vivrah at their back, it was the Obsidian Lords who began the Reckoning, who saw Emaxus brought low, and though they were outnumbered and defeated, the Obsidian Lords brought the Children of Yamma down with them, making Emaxus the near-godless world it is today.   They are now known by many names. The Obsidian Lords, the Lords in Black, the Five, the Quintus Discordia, all these names and more have been given to them by the mortals of Emaxus, by those who remember them---in fear, or in faith.

Non-Evil Worshippers of the Obsidian Lords

Generally, people who worship the Obsidian Lords are evil in some unavoidable way. Whether they're praying for plagues from Ix'kythael or the power to rule from Narvox, they have intentions that are selfish at best and psychotically destructive at worst.   But, as with every rule, there are exceptions to this. Some people worship the Obsidian Lords because they feel they have no other option---the Children of Yamma burned them one too many times, or their village was attacked and no other god would answer. Some people worship the Obsidian Lords because they believe in a coming doomsday; they hope that servitutude to these dark gods will save them from their wrath. Others still worship the Obsidian Lords by accident---they pray to an elder god or a wild spirit which is actually a likeness of a Lord, and they have no idea. While these innocent worshippers are rare, and most of these few eventually become or do great evil, they do exist.
