The Drumian Wilds
Forming the heart of western Drumis, the Drumian Wilds is the span of untamed wilderness north of the Istavinion Coast and south of the Wall of Drumis. It stretches from the western shores of Drumis to the western borders of the Ix'Thraka Jungle, and is defined by two major features: the Litchneau Timberland in the west and the Fingers of Stone in the east. Like, well, all of Drumis, much of the Drumian Wilds are unexplored and so only the largest features are known of and noted.
Fingers of Stone
Past the eastern borders of the Litchneau Timberland is a region dubbed the Fingers of Stone. The region's defining feature and namesake is the towering spires of stone that rise diagonally from the ground, some reaching well over a thousand feet into the sky and all of which face eastward, towards the Untamed Valleys and the Ruins of the Reckoning. What exactly created these "Fingers" is unknown, but they stand today as countless monoliths to days and wars past. Between the spires are light forests and plains broken by streams and creeks and the occasional sinkhole or crater. Occasionally, these sinkholes will create the most beautiful waterfalls as curtains of white water plunge into an unknown abyss. Though the borders of the craters and sinkholes are largely overgrown by this point, life seems to largely avoid their depths, and it is believed that arcane residue from the Reckoning or even planar rifts ward off natural inhabitants in favor of more... supernatural guests.Hydrahead River
Forming the water table of much of the northern Litchneau Timberland, the Hydrahead River is named for the five large tributaries that form much of its inflow. The river begins south of the Frozen Ramparts and then flows a few dozen miles from their base, gathering water and speed before it flows out into the Kaldr Harkfjyrd. This river's name is also well-placed for its known hydra population; given the number of predators in the Timberland, hydras have plenty of prey and competition to keep their ravenous hunger and thirst for violence sated along the river's -- and its many tributaries' -- length.Lake Virboia
Lake Virboia is the rather large landmark that explorers have often used to get their bearings when passing to and from the Timberland and the Fingers of Stone. End destination of both the Syrraine and Vegresor Rivers, Virboia is a large lake with many, many inhabitants. It is believed to have been created in the aftermath of a battle of the Reckoning, as its shores are irregular and often jagged and cliffed. Aquatic explorers have met little luck in exploring the depths hidden by Virboia's shimmering surface, but theories hold that the lake may be surprisingly deep -- well over a thousand feet -- and that it could hold rifts to Tudulion or even Atithis as a result of its calamitous past.Litchneau Timberland
Dominating much of the Drumian Wilds -- and even pushing into the Istavinion Coast and the Fields of Frost with its Southern and Northern Reaches, respectively -- the Litchneau Timberland is the largest forest in the world. It technically stretches from Drumis' southern shores to the shores of the Frozen Dagger, and its inhabitants are just as varied as its climate zones. The Timberland gets more and more dangerous as one moves further northward, and untold secrets lie within its largely unexplored vastness.Lonely Basin
Forming the largest freshwater lake in the world, the Lonely Basin is a massive, roughly circular crater lake on the eastern reaches of the Fingers of Stone. It is believed that this lake, like its smaller cousin Virboia, formed when water filled a massive crater left in the wake of the Reckoning. To give more credence to this theory, it is noted that the Lonely Basin's shores are strangely devoid of life; hardly anything bigger than a bush grows within a few miles of the ridges that surround the lake, and explorers have noted that the roughly one thousand foot climb to the crater's edge around the Basin is eerily quiet. No one's explored within the lake on account of the hundred foot or more drop into the water from the crater's edge, but the horizon-spanning length of the lake is just as hauntingly still as the area surrounding.Farthen Beck
Though it is sometimes dry, when particularly harsh storms ravage the Wilds and the Lonely Basin overflows, the Farthen Beck is the name given to the short river that flows from the southern edge of the Basin and into the Ix'rathron Inlet. Beginning with a massive waterfall, the Farthen Beck is essentially just white water rapids from the Basin to the Inlet; however, the Beck is a dry river bed most of the time, denoted only by its bleached and yellow stone bed.Syrraine River
Forming the northern half of the drainage system that empties into Lake Virboia, the Syrraine River flows from the Northern Reaches to the lake. It is a relatively calm river, and becomes quite wide before it empties into the lake.Vegresor River
Forming the southern half of the Lake Virboia drainage system, the Vegresor River is much more varied and chaotic than its northern cousin. It has many large tributaries and has flows from both the Gloumeda and the Ringrave Mountains. Due to this, the Vegresor is rather fast-flowing and dangerous, and though its tributary creeks and streams can be peaceful and quaint, the Vegresor is known as the Drowner of Men to those who live near it on the Istavinion Coast.
