Ms. Matter

Doctor Megan Matter (a.k.a. Ms. Matter)

Dr. Megan Matter was an aspiring young physicist who wanted to create an experimental teleportation device. The machine, however, imploded and combined her body with dark matter. She became unstable and murderous, turning into the terrible villain Ms. Matter.
"This means that I, Ms. Matter, am the most powerful woman on the face of the earth! Nobody can possibly compare."

History

Early Life

According to news reports, Megan Matter was born to a wealthy Washingtonian family, that of Joseph and Margaret Matter, on October 1st of 2002. She was born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington. Megan showed her intellectual potential at the very young age of 6 when she turned her parents’ kitchen into a chemistry laboratory while they were off on a business trip. She reportedly terrified her babysitter when she spilled sulfuric acid onto the ground.   She graduated from High School at the age of 12, and quickly moved onto Olympia University where she began to study theoretical physics. Stephen Hawking was apparently a great inspiration for her. However, at this age, she also began to a superiority complex due to her perceived intelligence. It was left to fester as she did not take criticism well. Despite this, she managed to get her Ph.D in Theoretical Physics. She was quickly picked up by the scientific entrepreneur, Jacob Enoch of Nexus Technologies, in 2021.

Becoming a Supervillain

Megan worked on an experimental (and notably entirely theoretical) teleportation device, despite the warnings of her superior Dr. Seth Dwarn. She was encouraged by Director Enoch to continue the project. Eventually, near the project's completion, Seth Dwarn tried to warn the director that the teleporter was unstable and therefore dangerous. Megan shut down Dwarn, and assured Director Enoch that the project was safe.   The next day, she would find out at the demonstration that Dwarn's theory, that the machine could not stabilize the energy output, would be correct. Megan and two other scientists were absorbed into an imploding blast from the machine building up dark matter. However, unlike the other two scientists, Megan somehow survived the event and her body absorbed the dark matter. Megan tested her powers by killing a firefighter trying to investigate the ruins of the blast.   Megan went to show her newfound powers to Director Enoch and desired her promised "reward" for her experiment. Instead, Director Enoch denounced her as a killer. She then abducted the director and brought him back into the facility as a hostage, trapping him in one of the vacuum chambers that was turned off. She would be confronted by Emerald-Man, who she nearly killed, but he escaped her clutches by crushing some glass and relying on her still-human instincts.   Emerald-Man, along with Dr. Seth Dwarn, teamed up to take out Ms. Matter. Ms. Matter chased them through the halls and eventually got into a second confrontation with Emerald-Man. She turned into gas to kill him by asphyxiation. However, she was foiled by Emerald-Man utilizing liquid nitrogen against her, the extreme cold solidifying her form and allowing her to be shattered. The time she spent recollecting her form allowed Emerald-Man and Dr. Dwarn to encase her in a vacuum chamber. The vacuum neutralized her powers, leaving her to remain in containment for the foreseeable future.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Ms. Matter is a being that has her body intertwined with unstable dark matter, allowing her to distort her atomic structure without injury.
  • Composition Manipulation. Ms. Matter can change her body to become solid, liquid, or gas at will, sometimes letting it happen naturally when idle. This allows her to flood rooms with herself as a gas, slip through barriers as a liquid, or morph her body into different solid shapes. She can even change her own size and appearance.
