The Unearthed

Two generations after the war had ended, those blood-thirsty machines crept out of their mass grave near our beloved Bella Hill. With clumps of soil still falling from between their mechanical joints, the bastards lurched right into our nightmares.

The Unearthed are 57 Warforged who died in the Battle of Bella Hill and arose from the dead on the same day five decades later. Being among the first Warforged to die in the war, they were also the first ones reported to return to life after Menim's death. Many people originally believed them to be undead.
The official Sirastran records accuse The Unearthed of attacking multiple small communities before a detachment of knights were able to press a tactical advantage in the high desert. As the sides prepared for battle, an emissary arrived, and the Warforged withdrew via teleportation. A thorough inquisition by the Order of the Rose satisfied the church that there was no necromancer active in the area, ruling out any possibility The Unearthed were undead in the traditional sense. There are rumors that certain sects still exist to hunt The Unearthed and other arisen Warforged for their perversion of Pelor's natural cycle.
In Menimrest, it is considered uncouth to discuss The Unearthed in anything other than an official, diplomatic capacity. It is also the official, diplomatic stance that Menimrest has no knowledge of The Unearthed or any similar faction of arisen Warforged operating within Menimrest or anywhere abroad. Given that several Warforged have attained high-ranking positions within the magocracy, to discuss their activist cousins is likely to incur a harsh and lasting penalty.

Interactions

Slaying Was Easy - In the final month of 300YR, the adventuring party known as The Heroes of the Frontier came upon a derelict temple to a forgotten deity not far from the Triboar Trail. Upon investigation, they learned this was a safe house used by The Unearthed, and spoke with four members in attendance that day: Render, Scratch, Manver, and Jorros. Jorros, an acolyte of Freya, had spent time reinvigorating the plant and animal life near the temple, and purifying the water. A21R encouraged those in attendance to re-integrate with society, though he came to understand that The Unearthed had a goal of creating their own nation state, even if it meant out-living some of the current nations. A21R also noticed that his weapon called Lightbringer glowed brighter around these other Warforged. With the help of Jorros, Amriel, and Felix, A21R performed a ritual, during which the weapon acted as a prism and showed that all five Warforged present shared a connection to "the true" Pelor.
